Como decidir cual fabricante es mejor?

AutoArt

On a quality per dollar basis, I think most people would agree that you can't beat Autoart. The models are superb and the detail level, high. Is it a model or the real thing on your shelf?! Prices vary from about 56 u$ for a standard road car upto around 80 to 88 u$ for the rare models. Unfortunately, prices have recently risen so expect to start to pay around 60 u$ minimum for future releases. Still good value though when compared with, GMP etc.

UT

They are now part of the Autoart/Gate company and all models have ceased production so nearly all their models are extremely difficult to find. Again great quality and detail. When widely available, prices ranged from 42 to 72 u$ but now many command much more. The McLaren LM regularly sells for in excess of 112 u$ -  I sold mine before it was rare! Arrggh! I suggest you go for them before is too late!

Kyosho

There are some really exquisite models and some not very good ones. They do a  lot of BMW and Mercedes promotionals which acquired great value (around 60 u$ from dealers) but have been criticised for seeming to rush stuff to market. Bought normally, they cost about 60 u$. Some models are certainly much better than Autoart - BMW Z8 for example - but the Honda NSX I have seen does not seem to have the quality. They also command huge premiums on some models due to rarity. Recent examples have really taken a leap in quality and the latest models - the Lamborghini Jota and LP400 are superb - better than Autoart.

Maisto

The 'best of the rest' is the best way to describe Maisto. Excellent value at around 24 to 32 u$ a model and detail is good. Just don't expect UT/Autoart levels though. To be fair, the latest Le Mans models and the DB7 could be sold by UT and not many people would complain. Also make some interesting and unusual models - concepts feature strongly in their model line up.

Bburago

As an introduction to '1/18th' collecting Bburago are a good starter, but not for the rest really. Prices are good - routinely on sale for under 24 u$ in many model shops. However, the scale is off on most of the models making them look odd against genuine 1/18th models.

Pauls Model Art

Otherwise known as Minichamps. Only recently, been a noticeable player in the 1/18th road car arena, though their range of F1 models is well known. All models are magnificent quality and give Autoart a good run for their money. Have chosen some unusual and interesting subjects to model for 2001/2002. Unique valuable items for real collectors!

Exoto

Probably the best in terms of quality, but you pay a price. Expect to pay at LEAST 160 u$ and closer to 230 u$ or so for the latest models. From what I have seen, the models cannot be surpassed and the detailing and craftmanship is superb. No more can be said about them. They just speak by themselves!
