Welcome to Cenla Daylily! Daylily season is definitely upon us! I have to say that I am very excited about this season, especially for my own collection, many of which I have never seen bloom in my own garden. Having spent the previous four years living away in Little Rock, I bought many daylilies, seeing them bloom once in sales gardens, then never again. Thankfully, as a testament to their hardiness, my daylilies have endured, losing only a handful to rot and other pests. So this season, for me at least, is a daylily homecoming of sorts. And, I can't wait!
Again this November, we will be hosting our seventh Fall Symposium. We are so very fortunate to have such great hybridizers as Jack Carpenter, Mort Morss, Tim Bell, and Frank Smith share with us their latest and greatest creations. Also, these sessions always give us some insight as to what inspires these talented people.
Well finally, after some hesitation, CDS will definitely be hosting Regionals in 2006. So far, not many of the details have been worked out, but Pat Soileau will be hosting the Emma Middlebrooks bed at her garden in St. Landry, LA. I also hope to have my own garden on tour as well. I think we may spend one day in North CENLA and one day in the South. Our club is quite large, and we have many outstanding gardens to see. So, there will be many gardens on the open tour.
