The World Before Him

From his lofty mountain perch,

A man survey's the world before him.

Looking down upon the lush green earth,

A land vibrant, living, providing sustenance to all

Born in a small house in the valley,

He's lived his entire life within.

Sweating and toiling to earn a living,

He's become a part of the land.

Childhood fun and teenage discoveries,

Memories of a lifetime flood forth.

Many good times, a few sad one too,

All making the man he's become.

A tender moment, a kiss on the cheek,

The awkwardness of his first love.

Nurtured like the gardens he tended.

Blossomed forth, grew strong and sure.

By the union of the one he loved,

The joys of fatherhood blessed him.

His children giving him me energy in life.

Showing his pride for them each day.

Time passes each child now grown.

They with children of their own.

Love and pride never once faltered.

For the children or his wife.

Material wealth matters little to him.

Of all his riches and deeds he's done.

What better legacy to leave behind,

Than the children he love's so much.

With a smile he stands to leave

To walk down from the mountain.

Content with the modest life he's lived.

Having surveyed the world before him.
