Daddy's Little Girl

So small and helpless when she was born,

I was instantly drawn to her.

I held her in my arms cuddling her,

Because she was daddy's little girl.

We share a bond of mutual love,

A love that will endure through time.

Which no one can come between,

Because she's daddy's little girl.

When I'm happy, she shares my joy.

When sad she tries to comfort me.

Always there whenever needed,

Because she's daddy's little girl.

My heart melts seeing those sad brown eyes,

In the morning as I go off to work.

But warmed by hugs and kisses when I return,

Because she's daddy's little girl.

I'll take a nap with her by my side,

Or watch a movie with her on my lap.

I'll treasure each moment I spend with her,

Because she's daddy's little girl.

Author's note: My wife scolded me when I wrote this poem because we have no daughter.
She insisted that I explain that the poem Daddy's Little Girl is actually about
my 3 yoa Sheltie, Kimberly, which is definitely my little girl.
