Crushing Hand
Enthralled by the emotions we felt,
Infatuated by the others attention,
Blindly entered into a union
At a young naive age.
Youth transitioning to adulthood.
Responsibilities thrust upon us.
Changed how we looked at life,
Changed how we looked at each other.
Differences which once attracted the other,
Became the force which pulled us apart.
One expecting the other to change.
The other content as they were.
You held my essence in your hand
Scrutinizing it in minute detail.
Looking for each tiny flaw.
Finding many for I'm human.
Knowing not how to cope,
With the direction life led,
You closed your hand against me
Crushing my love for you.
