The Kerr Family

These headstone inscriptions are the only information that I have to date on the Kerr family. I will be doing some looking at the census records, etc. to see if I can locate a family by this name in Baxter or Fulton County, Arkansas.

This old sandstone marker measures "H x "W x "D.

It is located in a section toward the back of the cemetery and to the far left near a large walnut tree. Graves nearby include the Hall family, Mabrey, White and many fieldstone markers.

This photo was taken after the monument had been 'chaulked' by a visitor. I think this makes is very easy to see the cross that goes up the center of the stone. William's inscription is on the left side and Jane's is on the right.

William E Kerr Headstone

The full inscription on the left reads:

WILLIAM E.
Son of
W. & J. KERR
BORN
June 1, 1838
DIED
Oct. 23, 1868
(Inscription here will have to be studied)

This marker is distrinctive in that is was repaired some years ago with an attachment of a large slab of marble to the back side and a type of morter in the crack.
