The first annual Lake Chicot ( pronounced Sheeco ) Water Festival Wakeboard Shootout will take place June 18th - 20th on Lake Chicot, Lake Village, Arkansas. This event is sponsored by The Wakeboard Shop of Greenville Mississippi, and the Arkansas I.N.T..

Friday, June the 18th will kick off with a demo day featuring products from ICONN (demonstrated by Team ICONN rider Shannon Best, Hyperlite, Liquid Force, and DoubleUP. Also, free instruction will be provided by The Boarding School of Dallas, Texas. SHOW UP EARLY!!!

Saturday, June the 19th will feature exhibition riding by Shannon Best and prelims for the Arkansas INT tourney with finals on Sunday. Divisions will range from Novice to Outlaw with cash and prizes for all division winners. $1000.00 dollars worth of cash and prizes will be given away in both the Outlaw and Double Up comps. Competition will also include a wakeskate division.

Lake Village is located in the very south east corner of Arkansas -- 25 minutes from Greenville, Mississippi and 18 miles north of the Louisiana state line. It is located on the banks of beautiful Lake Chicot -- a seventeen mile long oxbow shaped lake formed by the Mississippi river in the early 1800's and is believed to be the final resting place of Hernando Desoto. It is also an excellent place to wakeboard. The site for the AINT tournament will be downtown Lake Village in front of the courthouse. There is a recently constructed amphitheatre, boardwalk, two city piers (with a roped off swimming area between them), beach area, covered picnic tables, and a volleyball area. A concrete jogging track runs the length of the tournament course with a grassy lake bank for spectators. This is the perfect place for the event!

The past ten years the Lake Chicot Water Festival has featured U.S. Title Series Boat Racing and has received national coverage of the event on ESPN. Although successful, many residents longed for something that involved people more with the lake. We have found the answer -- WAKEBOARDING!!!

Lake Shore Drive will be blocked off as well as part of Main Street and the Courthouse Square. Vendors will be set up on the square. There will also be many boats set up for display.

There will be a street dance Saturday night. Several bands will play over the course of the evening.

There will be three local television stations covering the event as well as four radio stations doing live remotes. In the past the festival has had 3 day crowds exceeding 20,000 people! Chicot is lined with private docks that will be filled with partying spectators. This is the perfect location to showcase our sport. The tournament course will be surrounded by a buoy line and a no wake zone will be enforced. Boat owners, however, will be encouraged to anchor outside the buoy line to watch. So, by all means BRING YOUR BOAT! No hard schedule has been decided upon at this time. There will be plenty of time for free riding throughout the three day event. For those of you with RV's there will be 'At-Site' or 'Near-Site' parking provided. There will also be a roped off area for competitors to hang together near the starting dock.
