St. Dismas is the patron saint of prisoners sentenced to death, and undertakers. All that is known of him is that he is the Good thief crucified with Christ on Calvary. The other thief is known as Gestas. The two thieves were captured and were crucified right beside Jesus. Dismas told Christ he was sorry and was promised a place in the kingdom of heaven.

From Luke 24:39-43 we read this: "Now one of the criminals hanging there revealed to Jesus saying "Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us." The other, however, rebuking him, said in reply, "Have you no fear of God, for you are subject to the same condemnation? And indeed we have been condemned justly, for the sentence we recieved corresponds to our crimes, but this man has done nothing wrong." Then he said,"Jesus remember me when you come into your Kindom." He replied to him,"Amen, I say to you today you will be with me in Paradise."

Dismas is the only person absolutely sure of that is in heaven. So if you are in prison, ask the Lord for forgiveness from your heart like St. Dismas. The Lord loves us all.
