It would appear that Valdis and James P had married or left home by 1900.
According to Colleen Peters, colleymae@bresnan.net, Valdis married her ancestor and moved to Teton County, Montana, before 1900. While I have no Texas County, Missouri, marriage information, there was a V M Pyatt and Lila Beard Harold who married in Shannon County, Missouri, in 1898. Someone interested in studying this family would want to check the actual 1900 Texas County census (not just the soundex as I have done) as the newly married or elderly (those without children under 10 years old) can be found. It would also seem that Flora E and Ellen F are the same child notwithstanding the slight difference in age (I could have interpreted the handwriting incorrectly on one or both of the censuses).
