John married c1893 (probably in Perry County, Illinois) Eldora Wham who was born in September 1866 in Illinois [b: 1831 and d: 1878 cannot be right. MCP].

John L Pyatt b: 13 Jun 1886 IL (probably Perry Co) d: 7 May 1965 (buried Galum Presbyterian Cemetery, Perry Co, IL) [per Eldora's answer to 1900 census - this is not their child. Whose is he?]
Mary Margaret Pyatt b: Sep 1897 IL (probably Perry Co) m: Claud Vick (DAR #139340)
In the July 23, 1897, issue of the "Du Quoin Tribune" published in Perry County, Illinois, John and his son, Raymond, are listed as having attended the wedding celebration of George and Olive Wham Pyatt. George was John's younger brother. Also in attendance were several other of their siblings including: James Pyatt and his son, Frank; Francis Pyatt Baird and her husband Porter and daughter, Florence; Anna Pyatt Jackson and her husband, William and children, Mary and Pyatt; and Nettie and Mary Pyatt.
Their first appearance - on the 1900 census, of Perry County, Illinois, John and family appeared as follows:
