Dr. James and Sarah King Pyatt
James Piatt was born September 27, 1784, in Piscataway Township, Middlesex County, New Jersey to Ephraim and Mercy Steele Piatt. He died October 26, 1864. His headstone reads: DR. JAMES PYATT / DIED / October 26, 1864 / Aged 80 years & 23 days. I can’t see the verse to read it from the photo. He married Sarah King on February 6, 1808, at the First Presbyterian Church, Amwell, Hunterdon County, New Jersey ( Vol 1:144, by Rev. Thomas Grant). Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Marriage Records, 1795-1875, Vol. 1, Hiram E. Deats (1918) (1986 Reprint, Hunterdon House) lists: James Pyatt & Sarah King 6 Feb. 1808 (Vol. 1:144 by Grant) s/o Ephraim Pyatt & Mercy Stelle. Sarah was born February 6, 1788, the daughter of Jerimiah King and died April 9, 1874. Her headstone reads: SARAH / WIDOW OF / DR. JAMES PYATT / Died April 9th 1874 / Aged 86 years 2 mo’s & 3 days. I can’t see the verse to read it from the photo.
James Pyatt studied medicine with Dr. Freeman of Woodbride, attended medical lectures in New York, then located about 1805 at the "Boar's Head" in Amwell, near Croton in Hunterdon County, where he resided until his death. He maintained his practice for many long years until shortly before his death.

- John Pyatt b: c1827 m: 21 Feb 1865 Hunterdon Co, NY, (by Rev. Dailey 3:422) Abby Heiner/Hiner (one of them died 1866)

By the 1840 census of Raritan Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, pg 339, the family was considerably smaller:

This family was enumerated #250/275 pg 064 (Ancestry.com image 33/73). James' name looks like 'Payatt' because of a swirl on the front side of the 'y' which is not present on the other family member's names. Living in nearby Delaware Township was their son, King Pyatt, and his family.
