Thomas and Elizabeth Pyatt Davis
Elizabeth "Betsy" Pyatt was born c1796 to Joseph and Sarah Jane Still Pyatt and died after 1850. Betsy married on November 2, 1812, in Burke County, North Carolina, Thomas Davis who was the son of William and Sarah ? Davis. Thomas Davis was born c1790 and died before January 1866 when his estate was probated in McDowell County, North Carolina. This family always lived in the same location, however, in 1842 their part of Burke County became McDowell County. The marriage bond for Betsy and Thomas was signed by Joseph Pyatt and J Erwin. These same bondsmen were on the marriage license for Elizabeth's brother and sister-in-law, James Pyatt and Jane Davis. Were Jane Davis and Thomas Davis related? A study of her possible parentage might include investigation into the Davis's buried in the Nebo Cemetery, McDowell County, North Carolina.

Thomas' family was enumerated #422/422 with Robert at 423/423 and Silas at #424/424. At #425/425 were Noah and Mary ?Cannon/Conner - this name appears to be the same as the name of Thomas' daughter, Sallie, who was recently married. Other neighbors/relatives were Martin Noblet and John Davis age 36 born NC. At #416/416 on the previous page was Andrew Reed with a wife, Sarah age 22 born NC, who is the right age to be Thomas and Elizabeth's daughter.
