Captain William Piatt was born in 1743 in New Jersey to John and Frances Van Vliet Piatt and died November 4, 1791, in an Indian Battle under General St. Clair at Ft. Recovery, Ohio. William married first in Somerset Co, NJ, on June 27, 1774, Jemima Quick (thier license was dated 24 Jun 1774). Jemima was the daughter of Col. Abraham and Machtel Veghte Quick of Ten Mile Run, NJ. Jemima is also called Jacomyntje in some records.
