The Truth About Ash

This a G rated Fanfic, and so EVERYONE is able to read it.

Ash sighed as he tossed and turned in his sleeping bag. He had kept the secret for so long, it seemed almost unreal. But, every now and then, it just came back in startling truth. How could he tell them? How could he tell them that he had a very serious disease? He knew it was something he could live with, and he wasn't often in danger of his life, but it still happened. Ash just couldn't tell his friends that he had Diabetes. If he told them, they would leave him to journey alone. Just like all of his old friends, including Gary...

(Start flashback) What? You have what? Get away from me, loser. 6 year-old Gary shouted. Tears ran down Ash's face and he ran out of his former best friend's house and into his own. Without looking, he ran right up to his room. There, he looked out the window, tears rolling down his cheeks, as he watched Gary tell all of his friends, who gagged. He could catch bits of conversation. ...He'll get us with it, too! Ew! ...I'm never playing with him again!  6 year-old Ash cried. Why was everything so unfair?  First, his dad left to train pokemon, then he finds out he has an illness, and then his friends all leave him. What was he going to do? (End flashback.)

Once again, Ash sighed. Then, careful not to wake anyone, he climbed out of his sleeping bag, Without his pokemon league hat, he walked silently off into the woods. But he suddenly felt weak and shaky. Seriously shaky. He knew he had to eat something, but he couldn't. Not with Brock and...Misty around. Luckily, the sun was coming up, and his friends were starting to wake up. Ash went back to bed. And fainted. When Misty tried to wake Ash up and failed, and when even pikachu failed, she knew that something was terribly wrong...

After telling Brock, Misty called out a pokemon no-one has ever caught.Well, except for her, of course. Articuuuuuno It Cooed. When she told it to FLY, it enlarged until everyone could fit on it's back. Brock then knew what to do. He lifted the unconscious Ash onto the bird, climbed on and then helped Misty up. Misty urged Articuno on, and in a matter of minutes, there were on Cinnabar. She then told Articuno to land in front of the hospital. Misty hopped off and ran into the hospital. After explaining what she knew, the staff rushed out and pretty much grabbed Ash, and then took him into the ER.Brock just sat down and waited, with Pikachu on his lap, while Misty paced the floor, tears in her eyes. When some nurse told her not to be worried about her "Boyfriend" Misty just nodded.

After half an hour had passed, a doctor came in and told them that Ash would be ok, but he'd have to stay in the hospital for a few days. He also told them to "be careful, because Diabetes can be a very dangerous thing." Huh? My friend doesn't have it! Misty protested, about to punch the doctor. Brock stopped her. Misty, calm down. He probably had a reason not to tell us. Brock tried to explain.I should probably call his mom. Misty volunteered. You don't know her number. Oh, well, I can call that loony Prof.Oak that Ash is always talking about. I know his number. After dialing the Professor's number, and telling him, and asking him to tell Ash's mom, Misty hung up. What she didn't know was that Prof.Oak was calling Gary, thinking that the two are still best friends. "Yawn" "Why are you calling so early, Gramps?" "Well, I just thought you ought to know, Ash Ketchum is in the hospital." Gary stopped right in the middle of a yawn. "Wha? Something's wrong with him?" "Yes. He's in the hospital on Cinnabar, but, I should warn you- "Shooooooommmm" Gary ran off before Prof.Oak could finish his sentence. Believe it or not, Gary still liked Ash, but the shock of finding that his best friend had something serious made him think he was going to get it too, just from hanging around with Ash. He didn't want Ash's friends to get sick, and that's why he told them. Since then he had learned that there was nothing to be afraid of, that it wasn't contagious, but what was done was done. All Gary could do was act like he didn't like Ash. In a matter of minutes, Gary was at the hospital. "What are you doing here?" Misty asked, almost like he was Team Rocket. After a few minutes, Gary explained the whole thing. "So that's why he didn't tell us..." Misty trailed off. Just then, the Docter came in again. "You can see him now. But he's still unconscious." "That doesn't matter!" Misty burst out, and ran into Ash's room. Taking a seat by his bed, she, looking around to make sure no-one was there, started bawling. (What, you think I'd make her kiss him? No way! I'm trying to keep this a G-rated fic!Besides, I don't like kissing.) Suddenely, she thought she heard a sniffle not coming from her. She looked at Ash, and to her surprise, tears were rolling down his cheeks. "I...I guess you and Brock will leave, w...won't...you...Misty? Ash managed to whisper, another tear rolling down his cheek. "Of course not! Misty bellowed, about to slap him. Then, she remembered what Gary told her. "Oh, Ash, there's someone here to see you." Gary walked in. Ash growled. Gary explained. Ash fell asleep.(Pika pikachu, pika pi, ka chu, chu, Pi..Ka...CHU! The author didn't mention Pikachu, so pikachu shocked her.)

Pika pi! Pikachu declared, waking Ash up with a shock. Sorry, pikachu. Ash managed to say before dissolving into laughter. He opened his arms and pikachu jumped into them. In just a few days, Ash and his friends are back on the road, their adventures having started again. But what's this? Gary's traveling with them! Huh?  "I'm going back to my fans, loser."Well, I guess some things never change."
