Chapter 2 Disaster Strikes

"Well, I've got everything I need. See ya later, Professor!" called Jiggy.

Professor Oak nodded and watched as Jiggy left with the Jigglypuffs and Clefairy tagging along. "Talking Jigglypuff," he mumbled.

Time passed, and with each battle that Clefairy or her friend won, Jiggly gained more respect for Jiggy. He really did care about his Pokémon, and to him it wasn't about winning or losing. There was still a part of her that doubted him, so she still wouldn't fight for him.

Jiggy was a good trainer, and more importantly, he was a good friend. But unfortunately, he had already been to Mt. Moon. To get there, he had already gone through the places he was at now. Viridian City, Viridian Forest. Nothing really interested him at either place. And so he went on to Pewter City to earn his first badge.

"You surprise me," said Jiggly. "You seem to care about your Pokémon a lot more than you care about the fighting."

"I do," agreed Jiggy.

"If that's the case, then why do you make them fight? You're here to earn a badge, but you don't seem like the type who would care about the badges and the Pokémon League."

"In case I'm ever gone, I want my Pokémon..." Jiggy glanced at Clefairy and Jigglypuff. "No, I want my FRIENDS to be able to protect themselves. As for the badges, I think I speak for all of us when I say that we'd be proud to have them. I'm going to show the world that it doesn't take tough training to get to the top, and that trust and love do just as well."

"You really are a good friend." She smiled. "Come on, let's go get that Boulder Badge for you." It was Jiggy's turn to smile.

"Geodude, go!" shouted the gym leader.

"Clefairy..." Jiggy was trying to think of a good saying like what they always came up with on TV. "Clefairy, you're my choice! No, that's not it. Clefairy, you're up! This isn't baseball. What am I saying? Clefairy, you know what to do! Wait a second... Only I know what to do! Aww, heck. Clefairy, just go."

Clefairy stepped in front of the Geodude.

"Geodude, Tackle!" Geodude tried to Tackle Clefairy, but she nimbly dodged.

"Clefairy, give him your Pound!" Clefairy Pounded at Geodude, but Geodude wasn't intimidated or even hurt.

"Geodude, use Rock Throw and finish her off!" Geodude got ready for Rock Throw...

"Clefairy, Metronome!" It was a risk, but Jiggy had to take it. Clefairy got off her Metronome before Geodude could hit her with Rock Throw, and a random technique was used... Clefairy jumped forward and threw Geodude down to the ground.

"Alright!" shouted Jiggy. "Seismic Toss!" Geodude was beaten, and the gym leader recalled him.

"A good Clefairy. But, she's no match for Onix!" Onix came out, towering above Clefairy.

"Uh-oh..." said Jiggy.

"Go ahead," said the gym leader. "You can take the first attack."

"Clefairy... Metronome." Clefairy used Metronome... Suddenly, a fog filled the area. "Oh no... Haze won't do any good here."

"Onix, Bind!" Onix wrapped himself around Clefairy.

Without thinking, Jiggy shouted, "Stop! I withdraw Clefairy." Onix let go of Clefairy and Jiggy brought her back to his side. "Okay... Jigglypuff, go!"

Jigglypuff stepped forward. "Jigglypuff," she said.

"Jigglypuff, give him your Double-Edge!" Jigglypuff was ready for her Double-Edge attack...

"Onix, Slam!" Onix, with speed that Jiggy never would have guessed he had, Slammed into Jigglypuff and sent her flying into a wall.

"Jigglypuff!" cried Jiggy. He turned to the gym leader. "I withdraw Jig..."

Jigglypuff was shaking her head. The bigger they are, the harder they fall, remembered Jiggy, and Jigglypuff wasn't big at all.

"Jigglypuff?" asked Jiggy. He didn't want her to get hurt, but by that time, she was already back in the fight and taking orders only from herself. Before long, the Onix had suffered a few Body Slams and lots of Double-Edges.

"Alright!" shouted Jiggy. "We won the Boulder Badge!"

"Not yet... Kabutops, go." A vicious-looking Pokémon stepped out, armed with scythes for arms.

"Kabutops? Where'd you get that? It's extinct!"

"Search long enough, and you can find anything on the Internet."

"Oh... right."

"Kabutops, Slash!" In one fell swoop, Jigglypuff had fallen. Kabutops looked like it was going to go further.

"Stop! I forfeit the match!" shouted Jiggy. "I won't let Jigglypuff get hurt anymore!"

Jiggy looked down at the ground. It was his first real battle... He had lost.
