Echo and Narcissus by Waterhouse

REFLECTIONS

Yesterday...I sat beside a placid stream...and dreamed of an
Enchanted land...Far off...and full of lovely dreams.

I wished that all the moments in my life could have the flavor
Of that moment...Far...Far away from all mundane
Existances.

Sitting there...beneath a willow tree...I gazed into the placid
Water's face...and saw, reflected back at me...another's...
Not my own...but one I knew quite well.

Those loving eyes...that gentle, thoughtful, continence...
I recognized...at once...as being you.

You gazed into my eyes...so deep into my Soul's most
Secret parts...my Heart's deepest desires you saw...
Acknowledged...and consented to.

The love I felt...and evermore will feel for you...
Was mirrored in your eyes.

And for that lovely...oh most precious vision
That I saw reflected there...
I'd die a thousand times...and not regret
A single moment that we'd shared...
The moments full of dear and gentle love...

The look...from out that limpid, watery glass...
Which held your face...
Was all I ever want to see...
And will remember for eternity.
