PERSONAL OBSERVATION
OF THIS BREED
AND ITS SUITABLITY AS A PET

As a first time owner of the Miniature Pinscher breed, I found it quite remarkable at first to watch the sheer enthusiasm expressed in their day to day living. There is NEVER a dull moment with a Miniature Pinscher. They are cheeky, mischeivous, clever and VERY VERY Active. Having always been the owner of large dogs, I expected something a little different in the way I should teach a small dog. Not so with a Miniature Pinscher. These dogs are NOT for everyone and certainly not for the first time dog owner. They are tough critters that need a firm hand to keep them in line, otherwise all hell breaks loose. They delight in picking up and carrying around anything laying about on the floor. Notorious lap dogs, and attention seekers. There attention span is quite small and they are very easily distracted by what is going on around them. Leery of strangers they will attach themselves to one person, and will "tolerate" others. These dogs are surprisingly hardy for their delicate appearance.

Sturdy fences with NO holes are a must for keeping these treasures confined. They are also known to be good climbers. Once out they will often wander and refuse to come back till they are good and ready.

Full of fun, they are guaranteed to liven up any household, and can be quite bossy and possessive of whatever (or whoever) they consider is theirs. We haven't stopped laughing around this place since the arrival of our "Min Pin". Laughter also seems to spur them on to greater feats of ridiculousness.

A VERY fun Breed, but only for those with a firm hand. It is best to watch small children with these dogs although they are quite hardy, rough handling by small children isn't the best idea.

Big dogs in Small dogs, clothes? FOR SURE!
