Those That Wait...

31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 (KJV)

O arn't God's promises wonderful!?! Paticence is one of the hardest things to learn yet here it says "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength" I like that shall in there, because that means we WILL no if's, and's, or but's about it. Sometimes (or most of the time if you are like me) waiting is the hardest thing to do, espically if we are waiting on God.

I think that the reason we humans have so much trouble waiting on God to move is because we KNOW that He can do absoultly anything and so we want Him to do it now And I mean RIGHT NOW! (sounds so much like small child wanting his/her way doesn't it? Good thing God considers us His children or we might be in big trouble with that lack of paticence) But God always knows what is best for us and if we just (here those scary words are again) wait on Him, He will make sure everything is worked out to our satisfaction, and even better whatever we are waiting on Him for will be worked out to His perfect will.

I like the thought of mounting "...up with wings as eagles;" I mean if you think about it eagles are the birds that can soar the highest in the sky. If they are flying along looking for their daily meal for themselves or their fledglings and they hit some turbulance well all they have to do is catch a breeze and soar on up to a higher level. That is alot like how Christians can do. As we travel on our paths through life and we hit a hard spot all we have to do is catch a refreshing breath of the Holy Ghost, go on up to a higher level with the Lord and keep on going.

"...they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." If you have ever been in sports or just maybe gone on a long hike you know how good this promise sounds. To simply be able to run and not get tired, think of all the cross country races you could win (or for the babysitters and parents think of being able to keep up with those kids and even wear them out!). But fortunatly for us God didn't have Isaiah write that meaning physicaly (though I'm sure if we need it God will supply!), but was meaning in "the race that is set before us (Heb 12:1)" and for walking in His paths.
