RED JACK

Real Name: Red Jack

Class: Extradimensional

Occupation: Would-be god

Group Affiliation: None

Known Relatives: None

Aliases: None

Base of Operations: The House That Jack Built

First Appearance: (cameo) Doom Patrol II #22 (May, 1989), (full appearance) Doom Patrol II #23 (June, 1989)

Powers: Red Jack had vast superhuman strength, invulnerability, heat-vision, and he did not age. He had complete control over the House That Jack Built, able to create earthquakes and other phenomena in the House simply by snapping his fingers. To sustain his powers he needed to absorb the pain of others; to this end he kept millions of butterflies pinned in agony.

History: (Doom Patrol II #22-24) - Red Jack claimed to have been God, and that he was banished to a pocket dimension, the House That Jack Built, for the sin of sullying nothingness with matter. He also claimed to have been Jack the Ripper. Whatever the truth, every hundred years his House came in contact with Earth. On his last visit to Earth he sensed that Rhea Jones was transforming into a being of great power, so he abducted the comatose woman and brought her back to his House with marriage on his mind. Her former teammates in the Doom Patrol came to rescue her, and he was destroyed when Crazy Jane released his captive butterflies.

Comments: Created by Grant Morrison & Richard Case.

Red Jack had a flashback cameo in Doom Patrol V #6 and Teen Titans III #32.
