History: (Animal Man #28, 29)-Notional Man is a resident of Earth-27, a hypertimeline almost identical to our own. He is the result of a phantom pregnancy, only existing because his "mother" wanted a baby so bad. As a result he is obsessed with the fact that he is not truly a living being, viewing himself as an aborted human. He tried to earn a living as a superhero, teamed up with fellow third-stringers Nowhere Man and Front Page. They achieved a small degree of success, but their adventures didn't pay the bills, so they began side careers in the pornography industry. Notional Man and Front Page eventually became lovers, but Nowhere Man ended his business relationship with the others, running away with the teams money. Front Page and Notional Man swore revenge, and began tracking him down. They found Nowhere Man in the company of Animal Man, a hero displaced from his own timeline. The ensuing battle left Front Page dead, and Notional Man ran away, full of anger and despair. He started stalking Animal Man, first planting a bomb in a dance club Animal Man was at, and later kidnaping the Earth-27 version of Animal Man's daughter Maxine. Before he could kill Maxine Animal Man confronted him, and in a fit of rage ripped his head off. Notional Man's tortured non-existence was finally over.
