Powers: Lock could open gateways to other dimensions that he called the Beyond. he could take things back with him from the Beyond, or send objects there. he also acted as a lock that separated the Beyond from our dimension, but as time passed the boundaries between world weakened and he lost a measure of control over his powers.

History: (Superman: The Man of Steel #41 (fb, BTS)) - A young orphan saw a stage magician and became obsessed with the craft. He learned he had innate magical powers, and took the name Lock, short for Warlock. Swami Sankri honed his abilities, and found that Lock could not only open portals to other dimensions, but also kept the varying dimensions separated from each other. He feared Lock’s powers would overcome him, and that he had to find a powerful key to keep him in check.

(Superman: The Man of Steel #41, 42) - Lock gained fame as a stage magician. He put on a charity performance for orphans at the Morpheus theatre. Afterwards he found his control over the Beyond wavering, and was determi8ned to find his Key. he met singer and vampire babe Tanaka, and they were drawn to each other, and he felt she was his Key. Babe's vampiric urgings took control, and she left lock to find prey. Lock contacted Superman when his powers went out of control, opening rifts to the dimension the Beyond on Earth. Superman and Lock teamed up to remove Ruthven, who was possessing Babe, from her body, sending his spirit into the Beyond. With Babe's will, Lock was able to contain the Beyond.
