Powers: Black Condor could fly, communicate with birds and possessed limited telepathic abilities. He was a skilled fighter and was sometimes armed with a ray gun.

History: The infant Richard Grey, Jr. accompanied his parents on an archaeological mission in Mongolia, and witnessed their death at the hands of Mongol soldiers. Richard was adopted by a group of condors, and soon found he had the mutant power of flight. He was later found by a hermit named Father Pierre, who took him under his wing and educated him. After Pierre's death he decided to help humanity by becoming the superhero Black Condor.

During WWII, Black Condor joined the All-Star Squadron and later the Freedom Fighters. 

(JSA #42) - <April, 1944> Time traveling Black Barax attacked Washington to draw out Black Condor and the Freedom Fighters, and tried to abduct the Human Bomb to use his explosive power to fuel his damaged time-cube. The Freedom Fighters drove Barax back to his own time with the help of Mr. Terrific and time traveling heroes Hawkgirl II and Mr. Terrific II. The grateful Freedom Fighters had Human Bomb power Barax’ abandoned time-cube so the future heroes could return to their own time.

<1953> Black Condor moved onto a higher plane of existence.

In pre-Crisis continuity Black Condor lived on Earth 2. In this continuity, after joining the Freedom Fighters he traveled to Earth-X, a world without superheroes where the Third Reich was in power and WWII raged for over 30 years. The war finally came to an end through the combined efforts of the Freedom Fighters, Justice League and Justice Society.

Black Condor was originally published by Quality Comics, which DC obtained the rights to in 1956.

Black Condor received a profile in Who's Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe #2.

Black Condor I had cameos in Aztek: The Ultimate Man #8 and Spectre III #38.
