Course Pre and/or Co-requisites: Ability to keyboard.

Text: A Practical Approach to Windows 95 by Marly Bergerud and Don Busche', Ed.D. Southwestern Publishing Company, First Edition.

Course Description: This course is designed to teach students to use the Microsoft Windows program.

II. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:

1. Identify the various aspects of Windows 95 and its use with computers.

2. Identify, discuss theories and engage in hands-on experience on Using My Computer, Shortcuts, and Disk Management Tools.

3. Identify, discuss theories and engage in hands-on experience on Using My Computer, Shortcuts, and Disk Management Tools.

4. Identify, discuss theories, and engage in hands-on experience on the Explorer, Run Command and My Briefcase.

5. Identify, discuss theories, and engage in hands-on experience with Windows Personal Information Managers.

6. Identify, discuss theories, and engage in hands-on experience with the Word Pad program.

7. Identify, discuss theories, and engage in hands-on experience with the Paint Program.

8. Identify, discuss theories, and engage in hands-on experience with the Control Panel.

9. Identify, discuss theories, and engage in hands-on experience with Running Dos Applications.

10. Identify, discuss theories, and engage in hands-on experience with Sharing Data, Clipboard, and Ole.



III. COURSE ORGANIZATION:

1. Classroom situation is in a Lab setting with instructor giving lectures on each chapter. Students then work on lab exercises with instructor giving assistance when needed.

2. Written tests will be given at the end of each two chapters. This is subject to change by the instructor.



IV. EVALUATION OF STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT:

1. Written exams will be given at the end of each 2 chapters. These tests will be worth 100 points each.

2. Homework will count 100 points each 9-weeks period, a total of 200.

3. The final exam will be comprehensive and will be worth 200 points (Approx. 20 percent of final grade.)

4. Grading Scale:

93-100 = A

83-92 = B

70-82 = C

60-69 = D

59- = F

V. OTHER INFORMATION

1. Attendance: Students are expected to attend this class regularly in order to satisfactorily complete the course.This class has a lot of class work as opposed to homework.

2. Makeup Test Policy: No makeup tests will be given unless you have extenuating circumstances which would make you have to miss a test. Contact your instructor ahead of time, and you will be expected to take the test on your first day back. If you do not take the test then, you will receive a 0 for the test. Do not miss a test without contacting your Instructor first.
