HISTORY OF THIS PROGRAM

Here is some of the history of this program, and it necessarily includes a lot of my personal history.

In 1958, I had gone with some business associates to an insurance company convention at Lake Tahoe in Northern California, and on the return trip to Southern California, I bought a "Science of Mind" magazine at a newstand in Bishop, CA. I found it fascinating and by the time we had reached San Bernardino, CA, I felt that I had to have the textbook "Science of Mind" by Ernest Holmes. I found a bookstore there where I was able to buy it.

Because I lived in the Imperial Valley, where no churches of Religious Science were available, I had to satisfy my interest by reading, until I and my family moved to San Diego, CA where I was able to visit a Church. I have been involved ever since.

Over a period of many years, I have accumulated a large collection of Cassette Lessons in Applied Science of Mind. These are lessons which have been taught by some of the greatest teachers in modern metaphysics.

Included in my collection are courses, lectures and lesson-talks presented by the following people, some of whom have passed on to the next plane of existence.

Dr. Chet Castellaw, Minister for many years of the Church of Religious Science in San Diego, CA.

Dr. Ernest Holmes, Minister and Founder of the Church of Religious Science and author of the Science of Mind textbook and many other books.

Dr. William Hornaday, Minister for many years of Founders Church of Religious Science in Los Angeles.

Dr. Raymond Charles Barker, founding minister of the Church of Religious Science in New York City, author of many books including "The Science of Successful Living", "The Power of Decision" and many others.

Dr. Joseph Murphy, Minister, Church of Divine Science, Los Angeles, author of "The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" and many others.

Dr. Jack Addington, lecturer and author, founder and director of the Abundant Living Foundation.

Over the years, I have continued to add to my collection of lessons by these teachers as well as many others.

I became a member of Chet Castellaw's church in San Diego in 1962, and have recorded on audiocassettes, for my own convenience in studying, many lectures and courses taught by him. These include "The Basic Ideas of Science of Mind", "Techniques of Creative Thinking", "Demonstration Course", and "Applied Science of Mind". (This is the First Year Basic Course in the Science of Mind, based on the Science of Mind textbook written by Ernest Holmes.) "Money", "Your Mind Can Heal You", "Scientific Meditation", "Leadership" and others.

Under Chet's leadership, his church was one of the largest in the International Association of Religious Science Churches, and served a constituency of over 4,000 people. In my opinion, he was one of the truly outstanding teachers of the Science of Mind.

Applied Science of Mind, as taught by these people, and Chet in particular, is a study of the qualities, the aspects and the functions of the various faculties of human intelligence. This is one of the two major responsibilities to the student.

The other is the teaching of the step-by-step techniques for Creative Thinking and the re-education of the subconscious mind. Science of Mind teaches that the cause of all experience originates in the subconscious mind and that, by understanding and application of the principles of mind through the scientific techniques of Creative Thinking, subconscious attitudes and habits of thought can be changed, thereby changing one's experience in life.

Science of Mind, as presented in my collection of Cassette Lessons, is a teaching, not a PREACHING!. The emphasis is consistently on HOW to think, not on WHAT to think.

In 1972, I began arranging these courses and lessons by these various people in the form of this Cassette Study Plan, and renting them to some of my friends and fellow students of the Science of Mind. The enthusiastic reception of these lessons and the appreciation of them by these people encouraged me to advertise the Cassette Study Plan in a nationally circulated magazine. Quite a few people around the country did subscribe to the program, and I felt that it was quite successful. I received some wonderful letters of appreciation from many of them.

However, at that time, I was still employed in a profession where I often worked evenings as well as during the days, and I found that the program was taking too much of my time, so I decided to "put it on the shelf" until I reached retirement age.

I feel that now is an appropriate time to reactivate the program. I have chosen to make several changes in the program and utilize the internet for both publicizing and distributing the Cassette Lessons.

If you would like to receive a Free Introductory Cassette and supplementary material explaining the operation of this Cassette Study Plan, please send me an e-mail message requesting the Free Cassette and information.
