Shawn Colvin- "Nothing On Me" The Theme song from TV's Suddenly Susan has been released as Shawn's 3rd single off of "A Few Small Repairs"  After a couple of weeks of transition, radio stations have started to play this one at every chance they get. The song is a blend of folk sounds with a 90's pop sound. It's about a girl who felt trapped in her realtionship and broke out. She is singing to her ex-boyfriend that she has grown past his overpowering ways and has blossemed into an individualistic person.
My Score= 8.9

Chumbawamba- "Amnesia" Well Chumbawamba somehow got around the fact that another of their songs makes no sense. They add an echo to a choir sounding array of voices. They chant about long-term memory loss, but they don't have any basis for what they are asking. It just doesn't make any sense. Maybe I'm missing something, but this seems like a very poor follow up to a smash hit like "Tubthumping."
My Score= 3.4

Alanis Morisette- "Uninvited" Finally Alanis has a new song. To me, Uninvited sounds like it should have come off of Jagged Little Pill. It has a kind of gypsy sound to Alanis' ballads of heartache. It is about a girl who decides to push away the one she loves and is just starting to get over it when the guy shows up. Lets hope that this is just the start of more to come from Alanis .
My Score= 7.8

Edwin McCain - Misguided Roses
By:  Jenn Dugas

We've all heard the words "musical growth" in reference to many bands new
albums.  However, I think that is a favorite term used too freely by
writers.  Edwin McCain's new album, Misguided Roses, shows true musical
growth, as well as expansion in size and into other areas of music.
Anyone that is familiar with Edwin McCain's debut album, Honor Among
Thieves, knows that it was an amazing album, chock full of musical
ingredients, such as jazz, folk, pop, and rock.  'Honor' also featured
guest artists Rose Stone (Sly and The Family Stone), Darius Rucker and Mark
Bryan (Hootie and the Blowfish), Lili Haydn, and others.  Edwin's scratchy
and soaring vocals, along with a very tight band, made this record
something that every music fan could listen to and enjoy.
Misguided Roses is the second and long-awaited, much anticipated album
that all Edwin McCain fans longed for.  The writing of this record began
while the band was still on tour in support of the first record and
continued throughout the recording of 'Misguided.'  This album contains
many of the influences from'Honor' and takes them to a higher level with
the addition of guitar player Larry Chaney.
Edwin's dear friend, Nil Lara, who is Cuban and has a very distinct style
of music was the inspiration behind the first single, "See The Sky Again."
You can actually hear that some of Nil's style "rubbed off" on Edwin.  The
band has gone into another different direction with "How Strange It Seems,"
which is a very grinding, bluesy song.  Misguided Roses is a bit more
upbeat than Honor Among Thieves, however, it still features all types of
music and touching lyrics that people can relate. to.  The beautiful
ballad, "I'll Be," is the latest single, and for those of you who can't get
enough, there's a hidden track on the CD only.
Misguided Roses has taken off well and has had rave reviews; I'd like to
add this one to the collection.  With the growth on this album, Edwin
McCain has given us an incredible record with a stronger sound quality and
range of music that will captivate any audience.  Misguided Roses is one of
the most fantastic and original albums to be released this year.
Pick up a copy of Misguided Roses at your local record store and request
"I'll Be" on your favorite radio station.  For information on Edwin McCain,

Chantal Kreviazuk- "Under These Rocks & Stones" It has been the female talent that has given Canada the international recognition they rightly deserve. Now a new songstress has emerged. Her name is Chantal Kreviazuk. Her album, Under These Rocks And Stones is her debut release and it is sure to be a pivotal record in the history of the Canadian music industry. Although less
somber to her female counterparts, Sarah McLachlan and Jann Arden, Kreviazuk has a honest emotion to her songs. Whether it's a guy that made her mad  in Believer, a discussion of  innocence in the hit single- Wayne, or Surrounded (Which is about the aftermath of a friend's suicide), Chantal captures the true feeling of every situation. Sung with innocence, insight and vulnerability, Under These Rocks and Stones is an album worth listening to....many times.

My Score= 9.4

Top 5 picks from the album:
1. Surrounded
2. Wayne
3. Co-Dependent

Paula Cole- "This Fire" Paula's second album is a hit! She shows her vocal & writing skills in this diverse album. It starts out with "Tiger" which is about a girl who finally decides that she can be who she wants to be. "Throwing Stones" is about an abusive relationship that is hidden from everyone. "Mississippi" is a beautiful song of someone who has stepped all over her heart. "ME" shows everyone's' fears & that once someone faces them, they can cross the bridge and see that nothing is overly horrible. Every track on the album is worth listening to and that isn't something that one can say very much .
My Score= 9.7

Top 5 picks from the album:
1. ME
2. I Don't Want To Wait
3. Where Have All The Cowboys Gone
4. Tiger
5. Mississippi
