Rick (to reverend): I can't breathe... Reverend, is it warm in here or is it just my imagination? It's my imagination. Thank you for your help this evening...
(Abby steps in wearing the dress Rick bought her and carrying a bouquet of white roses)
Rick: I'm... You look beautiful.
Abby: When did you get this?
Rick: You didn't think I had such good taste, did you? I'm sorry. I know this isn't the wedding you wanted.
Abby: You know me. All I need is to know is that you love me and no church is going to make this mean more. I just need to have us together for this moment. Nothing could make me happier than that.
Rick: Whenever I think I knew you, you suprise me all over again. Abby, you amaze me. I am amazed by your strength and your courage. I am so proud of you. And I am proud of being your husband. The greatest gift I've ever received in my life has been you. No woman has ever been true to me before and you have. You have given me... You have given me so much. You have loved me completely. I wrote something for you.
Abby: You did?
Rick: Yes. (Pulls something out of his pocket)
Abby: On a napkin?
Rick: It's a poem. Well, I didn't want to forget. I was in the bar.
(They laugh)
Rick: It says "Dear Abby"... I know this. (Puts the poem back in his pocket) I know this.
Dear Abby,
Love which is born with loyalty,
Knows no earthly bounds,
It flies on the wings of angels,
And reach all who touch it.
I will love you, dear Abby, till the good Lord takes my breath from my body,
And even then I will rejoice,
Because I will share your spirit with him in eternity.
(Slips a gold band on her finger)
Rick: I promise to stand by you no matter what, to fight for you and to love you for the rest of my life.
Abby:(Looking at the ring) This is so beautiful! It takes my breath away! When I first met you, I remember you were so strong and gentle. I had to hide my hands behind my back because they were shaking so much. And my heart was beating so fast. I was light-headed! I fell in love with you right at that very moment. And it was a child's love then, but it's not anymore. I know now that love isn't just weak knees and shaking hands. I know it's being strong yourself so that we can be strong for each other. And I'm ready to do that. I am. I love you, Rick Bauer, and I want to be your partner. I want to be your wife.
Reverend: By the power invested in me by God and by the laws according to this state, I now pronounce you husband and wife.
(They kiss)
Abby whispers: I love you.
Rick whispers: I love you.
Abby: We did it!
(They embrace, laughing)
