The Bees of Proverbs

What are "Precepts" and "Proverbs?"
Precept:
A command or principle intended as a general rule or action.
Proverb:
A statement that teaches a lesson.
Bee Attentive: In Proverbs 22:17,"Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto thy knowledge."
Besides Jesus, King Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. In Bible days people often became leaders at a young age and were responsible to make many decisions that affect their country. Solomon often felt overwhelmed by his responsiilities when he became king. Yet because he loved and obeyed God, he was blessed with wisdom and a successful life and reign as king.

Proverbs 3:1-10, lists several blessings God generally gives for paying attention to and applying His wisdom: For our loyalty and faithfulness God gives us "FAVOR"
with God and man; for trusting him, He gives us "PROTECTION"
for tithing He provides for our "NEEDS"
and so much more. Be thorough in listening to God's voice, after all you might miss something.

Bee Wise: If you could have anything you wanted, anything at all. What would you ask for? In Proverbs 16:16, "How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!"
King Solomon loved God. He did his best to keep God's commandments and to please God. One night God appeared to him in a dream. God said he would give Solomon anything he desired. Now Solomon had only been king for a short time. He felt very unsure of himself, and he told God he felt like a little child facing such a huge responsibility. He then asks God, "Give me an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad!" God was pleased with Solomon's request. The King didn't asked for anything selfish, and because Solomon was unselfish, God also gave him riches and fame. We can get wisdom by learning what God's Word says and by practicing it in our lives.

Solomon is famous for a certain case he judged that showed the special wisdom God had given him. Two women came to King Solomon both claiming to be the mother of a baby. King Solomon ordered his servants to divive the baby in half with a sword, for which both women to each have half. The first woman pleaded, "Please don't kill the baby." But the second one said, "Go ahead" The king knew which woman was the true mother of the child.

Solomon is often referred to as "the most wisest man who ever lived." The advise from King Solomon was that we should learn as much as possible and try to remember what we were taught. He advised us to listen to what is wise and try to understand it. the person who refuses to listen hurts himself the most. A person can know alot of things, but knowing how to use that knowledge correctly is called wisdom.

Bee Kind: In Proverbs 21:21,"He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honor"
In the book of Proverbs the word "LOVE" is often used to describe kindness. Proverbs tells us kindness is important. Kindness is important to God. The Bible tells us, a poor man who wishes he could help and shows sympathy toward another person in need, is better than the rich man who could easily help someone but doesn't. God is our greatest example of kindeness. He is a loving God, always willing to show mercy. Giving His only Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins is the greatest expression of love and kindness ever shown.

Bee Obedient: In Proverbs 1:8,"My son, hear the instruction of thy Father, and forsake not the law of thy mother."
God's word is strongly suggests that children obey their parents. Children today, think that all the answers parents give are wrong, therefore they must find "Someone Else" to give them the right answer. Honoring parents means to show them respect, and in turn, God tells us that He promises us we will have longer, better lives if we do so. But does obedience stop at just obeying parents? In Isaiah 1:19,"If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land."
Through obedience, God will make us rich in Him, but only if we follow his instruction and be obedient.

Bee Careful With Your Words: In Proverbs 15:1,"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grevious words stir up anger"
Words are an important part our lives. If it weren't for words, we would miss out on a lot in life. The tongue is the most unruly part of the body. It can cut like a two edge sword as in what Proverbs 12:18 says,"There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword; but the tongue of the wise is health."
Gossip can hurt hurt people exremely bad. Also anger can cause us to use words unkindly. Listen to this: A woman went to her pastor one day because she had said something that hurt someone else. She was very sorry about it wished she could undo what she had done. Her pastor took a feather pillow outside where the wind was blowing, He then cut the pillow open and the feathers blew everywhere. The pastor then asked her, "If you are able to gather every feather that had scattered from here to beyond, then yes, you can undi the damage you did. " The woman ducked her head and realized that the damage was done. The pastor told her she can apolozise and mend it the best she could" So remember once the words leave your mouth, they cannot be gathered up again.

Bee Friendly: In Proverbs 17:17,"A friend loveth at all times."
Gods word has some important things to say about friends and friendship. Solomon, in his God given wisdom knew that a real friend is someone who will stick by you, no matter what happens. A true friend is loyal during the good times and the bad times. Friendship has to be earned not bought. In Proverbs 19:4,"Wealth maketh many friends; but the poor is seperated from his neighbor."
It can't survive on one giving, the other taking. Why it is important to have a friend? In Ecclesiastes 4:9,10, "Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up."
So, you see it is very important to have a friend, but it is also important how we treat them. Our friend can be an encouragement and an inspiration. A friend must show himself friendly. True friendship takes two with God at the center.

Bee Humble: In Proverbs 29:23,"A man's pride shall bring him low: but honor shall uphold the humble in spirit."
A humble person is not arrogant, haught, or proud. It is also not gained by putting yourself down in front of others. One doesn't gain humility in 10 easy lessons. Humility is an attitude of being considerate of others and loving them because God loves you. Putting yourself down before others or denying your abilities is false humility. You can be proud of your abilities, but its important to admit that God gave them to you. Using your talents to bring glory to God pleases Him.

Bee Choosy: In Proverbs 29:23,"In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths."
Not only is choosing to serve God the most important choice we can ever make, but it had wonderful benefits. People make choices every day. Some are big, some are small. King Solomon gave advice about life and choices. He said we will have a good life by making right choices. satan is an expert at tempting us to make wrong choices. He knows our weaknesses. He tries to get us to choose to do things that get us off the right path. We need God's help in order to stay on the right path. There is a place where we can get all the answers to our decision making. It is in God's Word, the Holy Bible. God covers everything in there to make our living for Him easier. Its our "guide" to better making choices for our life.

Bee Cool: In Proverbs 16:32,"He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."
Anger is a natural human reaction when things go wrong, when somone says or does something we don't like. It is not a sin to feel anger, but if we release our anger by saying harsh words or by doing unkind things, then we are letting anger take control of us and that is a sin. God desires to be our Master. If we feel ourselves becoming angry, we can ask God to take control of it and help us respond with love instead. Jesus died for our sins, then he sent the Holy Ghost to give us power to control the things that tend to overtake us, including our tempers.

Bee Dependable: In Proverbs 28:20,"A faithful man shall abound in blessings."
Dependability should be an important part of a Christian's life. The Bible gives us great examples of those that are reliable. Men tried to find Daniel unreliable, but instead were unable to find anything against and was trustworthy and dependable. We depend on people everyday. We rely on our friends to give us support and to be there when we need fellowship. We depend on our pastor, sunday School teachers to give us guidance and to help us learn more about God's Word. We even depend on people we don't know. They produce and package the food we buy. It may not always be easy to be dependable, but remember we have God to help us. In Proverbs 22:1,"A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold."
When someone mentions my name to others, I want people to think of me as dependable. Do you?

Bee Industrious: In Proverbs 13:4,"The soul of the diligent shall be fat"
Industrious means constantly active; always busy. Solomon knew everyone must work for what he wants in life. If he wants to have a plave to live, clothes to wear, and food to eat, he must work in order to have those things. The story in Acts 9:36-42, tells us of a woman named, Dorcas. She was a true Christian and used her talent of sewing to make coats and garments for the needy. She didn't get rich, but she used her hobby to bless others with her talent. Keep busy for God's kingdom, and remember: Idle hands are a devil's workshop.

Bee Cheerful: In Proverbs 16:20,"He that handeth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy id he."
The key to joy is knowing God is in control of everything that happens tous. Paul and Silas were both thrown in jail, but they didn't have sad faces, they instead were singing and praising God. That is true cheerfulness. Sometimes it may be hard to be cheerful. Outside pressures can certainly make it hard to be cheerful. But we can jave joy, happiness, and peace through Jesus. His presence in our lives makes a difference. Cheerfulness is a medicine. At one time you were facing a sad area in your life, but when you got around certain people, they made you smile and laugh. It was a sothing balm on your heart and soul. Proverbs 17:22,"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine."
Also, when we are facing trials and tribulation, Nehemiah 8:10 says,"The joy of the Lord is our strength."

Bee Teachable: In Proverbs 12:15,"the way of a fool is right in his own eyes; but that heaknth unto counsel is wise."
Our whole life is a learning process, from the time we were born, to the time our life will end. Learning never ends. Teaching often involves discipline. In learning the word of God, we are taught how to discipline ourselves to be better Christians. We must learn how to follow before we can learn to lead. Proverbs 19:20 says, We should accept instructions so we will become wise.

We may never be king or ruler of a land, but the choices we make are important ones.
