It was Homecoming night last Friday as the Bobcat's crowned Miss.Cindy Sharpe queen and hosted county rival Piggott.The four-game winning streak came to an end,though,as the Mohawks shut down the Bobcats and spoiled their homecoming 41-6.
"In my 26 years of coaching,that was the best Piggott team I've ever seen", said Bobcat coach Mike Smith.Piggott appeared to score at will,driving for a touchdown in the first three minutes of the game.The Bobcats answered with a drive of their own,but fumbled at the 11 yd. line.Piggott took a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter,and led 28-0 at halftime behind the play of Marshall Householder, Randy Lemmons, and Aaron Johnson.
Corning trailed 34-0 before sustaining a touchdown drive in the third period. Runs by Craig Hopkins,Guy Williams,Dustin Grubb,and Jerry Evans and the option of Quarterback Mitchell Hovis put Corning inside Piggott's ten-yard line.Hovis tossed a pass to Hopkins for Corning's only score of the night.The two point conversion failed as the Bobcats dropped to 4-1 on the season.
