"Alchohol," "lack of communication" played factor in Bohemian Rhapsody mistakes
SHIBUYA, Japan -- The selection of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody near the end of a two-hour Karoke session could have been much worse had the song not been put to a premature end by a quick-thinking English teacher last Friday night.
Witnesses said alchohol was involved and led to numerous epic song selections including November Rain, Phantom of the Opera Melody, Billie Jean, and Endless Love, among others.
Karaoke shop part-timer Jun Higuchi denied this, explaining that drinks contain no more than 2% alcohol.
Bohemian Rhapsody may have been doomed from the start when Michael Prieb, a natural baritone, attempted to compensate for a lack of range with a raw combination of volume and enthusiasm. Things quickly downspiraled when each participant became unsure over which portions of the song would be designated to which party members. A staggering Prieb later defended his singing before preceding to sing over Chris Azol's rendition of Enter Sandman, despite not holding a microphone.
Several witness reported increased bickering that resulted when Jason McCord blatantly ignored the unwritten rule of "one man, one selection" and input numerous songs from the Bon Jovi collection, claiming he needed to "get things rocking."
