Gaba English teacher showers girls at kyabakura club with mix-tapes, novelty coupon booklets

KABUKICHO DISTRICT, Shinjku (GTA) -- Members of the high-class Sugar Palace Kyabakura club were somewhat unenthusiastic by the visit of Craig Shane, thirty-five year old English teacher.

Shane, who has been a somewhat frequent patron of the club, is well known for his generosity.

"Kureigu? I think he gave me mixed tape of some rock and indie-bands he likes," said former bus guide turned Kyabakura girl Mika. "Arcade Fire is good." "He also gave me this coupon book. See here? One free hug...One free hot-fudge sundae?...One free backrub? I don't understand this though. I can use these coupons only with Kureigu? Or I take them to discount shop and exchange for cash?"

According the club's tencho, "We never wanted to have a cover charge. Normally, guests order a bottle of liquor. I never expected guest could spend two-hours sipping on an iced-tea while eating only the free edo-mame we set out on the tables."

"I know an ice-tea is 1.000 yen, but normally guest order expensive bottle or something."

However, co-workers worry about whether Craig has the means to support such a lifestyle.

"He'll be over at the Kyabakura club late at night at a time when he ought to be in his Gaba booth teaching. Ten o'clock. Ten forty-five? Those are guaranteed to be filled," explained one Gaba co-worker Pablo Aliquant.

"Instead, he's over cavorting with some scantily-clad, overly-perfumed, terpsichoreans in Kabukicho."

In addition to receiving a salary based on the over-all sales, girls working at the club receive numerous gifts from patrons.

"The other day, I happened to just blurt out about my trip to Australia." "Let's see, I got a Luis Vuitton luggage set, some spending cash, a Hermes watch from somebody. Although that really didn't have anything to do with Australia but it was nice. Oh, and Craig posted a picture slide show on Flicker.com of some of his favorite Sydney spots for me. Very informative."
