Ibaraki police: "Nerd cell planned to preserve popular idols in formaldehyde"

MORI, Ibaraki (GTA) -- Police raided the apartment belonging to three males in Ibaraki prefecture where they discovered over 85 liters of formaldehyde. In addition to the chemical, police investigators confiscated the hard drive from the occupants computer where they found "chilling" maps and locations of 20 members of the popular Japanese singing group, akb48.

"The Ibaraki police department has been watching this particular group over the past two years," announced a police spokesperson. "At no time were any Japanese idols in actual danger. However, once the nerd cell began to purchase and store the actual chemicals, the Ibaraki police department moved in to make the arrests."

"These guys were serious. Despite their youth and inexperience, they were capable of causing some extreme damage."

Police also confiscated over 15 boxes of figurines, posters, buttons, stickers, DVDs, keychains, handheld fans, magazines, and photo scrapbooks from the premises.

"These young men did their research and knew their targets inside and out, everything from their blood type to their favorite food and sport. Even the personal motto of each idol."

Police are also looking into possibilities that the cell planned a "second" strike targeting the public railroad system.

Ibaraki police captain further explained to reporters, "The group had drawers full of detailed train schedules. We found hundreds of digital photos and numbers books explaining the schematics for various types of trains. It's way too early to speculate, but I say there was a high possibility they intended to highjack a bullet train and fill the seats with lobotomized idols. But, we can't jump to any conclusions just, yet."
