Mixed-children continue to face challenges in Japanese society

Bullying worsens for Half-Eikaiwa teacher/Half-Student children

TOKYO, Japan (GTA) -- Keisuke Francis appears to be the typical 6-year old. His main interests revolve around his collection of Disney Cars and watching animated TV programs with his dog Boke.

However, Keisuke says that kids often give him a hard time, simply due to his father's background.

"These kids at school, one day, they were saying stuff like 'Your dad only makes 1,400-yen-a-day.' Which is so stupid because my dad does special meetings and stuff and went to the belt program so now he gets a million-bazillion yen or something. Retards, don't know anything."

Gaba Half-Child bulliedGaba Keisuke's father, Eric, says the schools need to take a stronger stance on bullying.

"Absolutely, schools have an obligation. I got my kid coming home from school crying and asking me if I have 'Marketable Skills.' You have to wonder where kids would even learn those words."
