BBC’s treatment of current events such as hurricane Katrina and the war in Iraq are critical in there analysis of how the situations were managed. For example the BBC had a news report where there was a reporter walking around New Orleans asking when somebody was going to pick up a dead body lying in the street. On the topic of Iraq they are also very critical. They say things that the American stations wouldn’t dare. For example when it came to the referendum in Iraq, Condoleezza Rice was strongly criticized for her premonition that the Iraqi constitution would be past. If such statements were made about Condoleezza Rice in the states there would be a large up-roar. |
