Mrs. Carolyn L. Payne

High School Algebra I and Geometry

Mrs. Payne, a Pennsylvanian for over thirty years, is joining CCSA for her first time this year. She has taught Algebra I and Algebra II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus, General Math, and Business Math. Living in Delaware for twelve years, Mrs. Payne has a son and daughter and two grandsons. Mrs. Payne loves to sew and is into arts and crafts.

Mrs. Payne has a B.S. in Mathematics, at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. She also has a Masters in Business Administration, at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Delaware.


Algebra I CP


Prerequisite: C average or above in Eighth Grade Math

The goal of this course is to have students develop the ability to analyze and solve problems and to provide a sound foundation for the study of more advanced topics in mathematics. The topics covered in this course include sets, equations, inequalities, formulas, graphs, factoring, rational expressions, radicals and the quadratic formula. Problems requiring comprehension as well as computational skills are emphasized. Students will need a graphing calculator for this course. 1 Credit

Geometry CP

Prerequisite: C average or above in Algebra I

Geometry consists of the study of definitions, postulates, and theorems; and the part they play in the development of formal deductive proofs, conditions of congruence and similarity of triangles, special properties, and relationships of various geometric figures. Some work in basic algebra (solving equations) is required as well. 1 Credit
