Mr. Steven Mayo

Middle School Communication Arts

Mr. Mayo attended the Delaware Institute for Arts in Education Summer Workshop last summer. This included performers in many arts areas from the Mesoamerican and African-American standpoints. As a result of the workshop, Mr. Mayo, as well as other teachers, are incorporating what they have learned about Mesoamerica into their curriculum. Presentations by various teaching artists will be part of the 500 participating students' experiences as well as presentations by the following:

"If you would not be forgotten, as soon as you are rotten, either write things worth reading, or do things worth the writing."
-Benjamin Franklin
Regina Ress - Storyteller and expert in Mesoamerican Culture and Mythology.
The University of Pennsylvania's Museum of Archeology and Anthropology.
Andes Manta - Incan musical group that performs on authentic, handmade instruments.
*This program was made possible in part by, and many thanks to, the generosity of the Cab Calloway PTSA, and we have applied for further assistance via the MBNA foundation.
Note: Mr. Mayo teaches Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade Communication Arts. The descriptions listed below are the different subsections taught in class.
