SKILLS ASSESSMENTS:
HIGH SCHOOL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Students are required to:

1. demonstrate proficiency of playing experience on a wind, stringed, mallet percussion instrument, or piano through performance of memorized musical scales, (C, F, B, G, D, A, E), playing to the extreme ranges of the instrument.

NOTES: Guitar is not offered and will not be considered as a valid instrument for the skills assessment procedure. High school piano is offered as a minor only.

OR

1. demonstrate proficiency of playing experience on non-tuned percussion instruments through performance of the first thirteen standard rudiments from memory.

All students are required to:

2. perform a practiced solo that demonstrates an advanced level of music proficiency. The solo should be between two and three minutes in length.

3. perform sight reading music as chosen by assessment panel.

OPTIONAL: Provide a letter of recommendation from your band/orchestra or private teacher.
