Another day, another casualty.
How many days like this do we have left? It seems to me, things
are coming to a head. In one corner we have Capitalism. In the
other we have Democracy. Two diametrically opposed forces. Capitalism
has reigned for thousands of years. Democracy is the new kid on
the block. Current events are basically the result of the battle
between the two.
Capitalists would like me to believe they are also Democrats.
Like Republicans, their version of democracy allows them to represent
the little people. Like the kings before them, and the popes and
the warlords and the emperors, we are expected to believe that
we need these leaders to protect us from our neighbors. I am encouraged
by the nightly crime reports that are broadcast on the major media
outlets describing all the 'thugs', 'terrorists' and 'evil doers'
that beset me. Imagine, our leaders say, if a real democracy were
to replace them we would be overrun by all manner of miscreant.
Yet, it seems to me, that most people are not evil. In fact, I'll
go so far as to say that nobody is really evil. It's only the
circumstances that are horrendous. Circumstances that are promulgated
by power struggles. Power struggles between these very leaders
who are here to protect us.
I think a more accurate portrayal would be that they are protecting
us from their enemies. Which are really just other people, like
them, trying to exert their control over a system that is out
of control. It is out of control for one reason and one reason
only. The lack of real democracy. That is, the lack of Referendum.
Referendum relieves us all of the need to exert ourselves on each
other. Without referendum, power is allowed to manifest itself
through brute force. Brute force being physical strength. Materialism.
Capitalism. Rule by capital is rule by brute force. Those who
have the most capital are allowed to force their will onto those
without.
Like I said, I see the situation coming to a head right now, on
a global level, as humanity realizes there is an alternative to
this paradigm. As I speak, polls are being conducted everywhere.
People are communicating, talking to each other and to themselves
about the need to tame the beast which is the system.
The system of course does not want to talk about this shift in
human consciousness. As a matter of fact, it's not the system's
job to relinquish power willingly. The beast is there for a reason.
To challenge us to overcome it. The beast has no qualms about
letting us all suffer, as we do. Our suffering is its raison d'être.
It is doing its job when it maximizes our misery. Its existence
is predicated on our inability to deal with it. Our suffering
is our price for allowing it to be. For we do allow to be. It
is only by our collective acquiescence that the system is allowed
to speak for us, to us, and against us all at the same time.
When we abrogate our voice we manifest the beast. Because there
will be a voice. There will be power. There will always be power.
The question is, where does it come from and where is it going?
If its not coming from the people, then it coming from property.
The only alternative. Capitalism is the manifestation of chaos.
Chaos in the form of property rights being elevated above human
rights. Power being controlled by property versus being controlled
by people. The minority being allowed to exert authority over
the majority by force. This is Anarchy. If we ever want this to
end, then there is only one road we must take. That road is Democracy.
Real Democracy. Global Direct Democracy. Where every individual
is treated as an equal with respect to the power they wield over
the rest.
One can look at this particular moment in time as being the pivotal
moment not only for our species, but for our planet, our solar
system, our galaxy, maybe even the universe. There is no doubt
in my mind that if we overcome the beast, we will be free to be
ourselves. It is my contention that humanity is naturally cooperative
and compassionate. Why? Because, it is only via cooperation that
we rise above the jungle. It is through cooperation and mutual
respect that we solve problems. Given our ability to communicate
and share information, ideas and ourselves we elevate ourselves
into the realm of the gods. For who are the gods? Powerful entities,
with abilities far beyond our plebeian imaginings. It is my contention
that given the opportunity to express ourselves fully as equals
across the planet we will have crossed a threshold the likes of
which is evolutionary in nature. To rise above the fear that inscripts
us into conflict and instead discover the joy of mutual respect
and cooperation. This is evolution in my book. This is the Tree
of Life.
And the question remains, how much longer must we suffer before
we are ready. As an American, I live under a constitution which
allows for this transition. The only necessary step for Americans
to take is to simply amend the Constitution to allow for Referendum.
If and when this happens, I have no doubt the rest of the world
will follow. It seems to me that it is up to America, as the world's
only Super Power to make the move. If we simply took to heart
the principle upon which our country was founded, that is respect
for the individual via a government of the people, by the people
and for the people, our manifest destiny would be fulfilled.
The problems we read in the paper, watch on TV, witness first
hand are all interrelated. They are all manifestations of the
struggle for power. The answer to all of these problems is to
negate the struggle. To bring everybody, everywhere on board the
same boat. Everyone, given the same amount of respect regardless
of circumstance, boundary or property. Respect in the form of
an equal say in the decision making process.
This is such a simple answer, some feel its hard to believe that
we are so close to achieving the miraculous. Yet if you read your
Bible or your favorite book of any nature you will see struggles
for power and you will also see revelations. The revelations always
result in power struggles being negated. Where people come together
to overcome the problem. The problem being anyone or anything
which grabs power when it is there to be grabbed. The point being,
take away the focus of power by dissolving it amongst everybody
and the resolution is clear.
If you have a problem with this idea it is because you are not
ready. You are in essence, immature. You are relying on another
to be your caretaker and your master. Your quote unquote representative.
Now hear this, nobody is ready, willing or able to represent you
but you.
Does this mean an end representative government? No. We can have
representatives and legislatures elected by consensus enacting
policies. However, these laws must be held up to the approval
of the people. Allowing anybody, any office to be able to write
the laws without this check is suicidal. It is self-negating.
To ask for any other system which allows anyone the opportunity
to overrule the will of the people is creating chaos.
Like I said, the only question that remains is, how long will
it take before enough people wake up to their own empowerment.
An empowerment which places real equality as the ultimate objective
for humanity. Personally, I see it on the horizon. There it is,
beckoning us to free ourselves. True, each day that passes brings
more horrible news about a horrible world, yet underneath it all
I see the movement rising. I see people waking up and the light
at the end of the tunnel growing brighter with each passing headline.
This text here is just another example. Demand Direct Democracy.
And let the sun shine in.
