Getting an application in Ireland:
Eligibility To obtain an Irish passport you must be an Irish citizen. The documentary evidence required to establish Irish citizenship is outlined on the passport application form. Children under the age of 16 can be included on a parents passport at the time of issue, however a person aged over 18 must hold his/ her own passport. A child under 16 years of age can hold a passport in his or her own right, with the consent of both parents.
Passport application forms (the PAS 1 form) are available from all Garda stations and from Post Offices which provide the Passport Express service. The completed application form should be sent to either the Passport Office at

Passport Express Service The Passport Express service available from Post Offices guarantees that Passports applied for under the scheme will be issued within 10 working days, provided that the application form has been properly completed and all necessary documentation is included. The special envelope provided should be used to send the application to the Passport Office.

Getting a passport overseas:
Passport Application Forms (PAS 4 for Great Britain and PAS 2 for the rest of the world) are available at Irish embassies and consulates. The application for a passport should normally be made to the Embassy or Consulate accredited to the country/ area of residence. This may not always be the geographically nearest Embassy or Consulate. If no Embassy or Consulate is accredited you should contact the nearest Embassy.

If you are not in a position to submit your most recent passport because it has been lost or stolen you must provide a completed Pas L form, (available from Passport Offices, Garda Siochána stations and Embassies and Consulates) and a statement of loss from the Garda Síochána or local Police authorities.
