Review (by Kristin, edited slightly - or a lot):
~I'll start off with Fall 2004 Tournament #3 at Shippensburg University. The
Deep Friars traveled out across PA around noon on Saturday the 9th. We
definitely welcomed the nice change of pace of NOT having to leave at 5:30 am
like the past two competitons! :-)
~Games ran Saturday night until nearly midnight. Yours truly, the deeps friars,
got the unfortunate first-round bye, meaning we had to play the remaining 4 or
so games straight through. It gave us time for a pizza lunch/ dinner run
however.
~Our roughest match was against Drew University's "Drew Blood". We held our on
and even ended up nearly sending one of Drew's handlers to the hospital with a
head gash---what a little wussy girl.
~For as old as they were, the adult flicks are a very talented and athletic
team. Don't underestimate them. Playing with only a seven man team, however,
they fortunately wore out early, allowing the friars a well deserved victory.
Drew was our only loss of saturday.
~The night was spent at Shane's house, which- by the way- is absolutely georgous!!
About 7 of us slept upstairs while the remainder headed down to the basement for
the evening. Our crew upstairs went to sleep almost instantly (being we strolled
in around 2 am), but rumor has it the downstairs bunch wasn't so lucky, due to
the chattering of a certain group in the bedroom.... Mary!! That would be you!
And either Teddy or Naked Jim was snoring...
~Next morning, the upstairs division was awakened early by the smell of bacon
and eggs, served ever-so-kindly by Shane's wonderfully amazing parents. After a
fantastic breakfast, we all packed up and moved out. Some teammates left,
heading back to SFU for one reason or another, leaving us with only 1 "real"
deep and about 3-4 handlers. Ouch. but once again, we held our own during a
windy morning and afternoon of playing.
~In the end, it was all worth it. Tired and content, the friars left
Shippensburg around 3 pm with a 3rd place finish.
