Defenseman Tim Adams returned to the line up and scored a key goal, while Mark Vinarsky missed the game with a back injury. The BM's should have a full line up for the playoffs, as Vinarsky should return by next week. Tonight's game saw a line shake-up on offense, which seemed to produce good results. Garrett Straus scored the game winner with 2:14 remaining in the 3rd.
...In post season news, the Scorpions defeated the Bruins 3-2 in OT in the 9 o'clock game. The Scorpions now move into first place. The ButtMonkeys will face them in round one of the playoffs, Monday July 29th, at 7pm.

7-1-02: Bad news BM's fans. Due to injury, BM's #1 goalie Jon Shubert will miss the rest of the season. The team wishes him a speedy recovery so that he may return for the next BM's season. The webmaster's opinion is that he will still recieve the top goalie trophy at this season's end.

6-25-02: Check out the new Team Stats section in the stats page!

Idiot #1: "Hey Garrett, hit me with your car! I will roll over your whole car and fall off the back."

Idiot #2: "Ok, friend!"

*car accelerates*

*breaking glass sound*

DOH! Car 1 Car 2 Arm 1 Arm 2

6-10-02: Playing the usual ButtMonkeys style, that is, classy and hardworking, the BM's defeated the Rabid Bruins 8-7. The game was the longest in BM history, due to the Bruins attitude, which went from smug to unsettled to typically whiney. Captain Tim Cooper scored a hat trick, including the game winner in OT, which was assisted by Vinarsky and Straus.

5-14-02: BUTTMONKEYS ON A ROLL....
The BM's won the first game of their double header, beating the Whalers 9-3. Everyone on the team contibuted to the win, including Mark Vinarsky, who scored his first goal as a ButtMonkey!
The team contiuned their strong performance into the second game, as the BM's defeated the Roadkill 14-3. The team welcomed back ButtMonkey Nate Eusko, who had an excelent game. We hope he gets more chances to play during this season. Interesting game stats: -Between the 2 games, the BM's had ZERO penalty minutes-

Jon Shubert was awesome, making great saves to keep the team in the game. He faced SIXTEEN shots in the third, letting only 1 in. Brian Avrock was the star of the game in his debut as a full-time ButtMonkey(again), with 3 points. Avrock scored 2 goals, including the game-tying goal, with 39 seconds on the clock.

-----------------------------------------

4-22-02 : ButtMonkeys lose to Vipers in second round.... The BM's post season was ended by the Vipers, who defeated the primates 9-2. Team captain Tim Cooper would like to thank the whole squad, along with BM's fans and supporters, for the best ButtMonkeys season ever. We look forward to the new season, with a full roster returning, mid-May. See you then!

4-16-02 : HEADLINE : BUTTMONKEYS TRIUMPHANT IN FIRST ROUND......... The BM's won the first playoff game in franchise history on Monday, April 15th. The team came together to defeat the Pegboys, 9-3. Strong team defense was apparent, just what the Monkeys need in the post season.(The team did miss Calvert, though.) A stellar performance by goaltender Jon Shubert earned him the undisputed 1st star of the game. Injured in the 2nd, Shubert held the Pegboys off the whole game, even stopping TWO penalty shots in the last minute of the game. The game was also notable for record BM fan attendence, many of whom came to the customary post game meeting place, 7-11. The BM's now move to the second round, where they will square off against the 2nd place Vipers.

4-14-02 : The ButtMonkeys finished their 2002 spring session with a 7-5 record. They move into the playoffs for the first time in francise history. The BM's will face the Pegboys in the first round. In their first meeting this season, the BM's whipped the Peg's 7-1. In their second, missing two players, the BM's lost in overtime, 5-4. The teams meet April 15th at 8.

4-1-02 : Puck Primates do not get along well with aquatic mammals! In a game fraught with penaltys, the BM's pulled off a 9-4 win over the Whalers. Eight minutes of PIM's were called on the B.Monkeys, the most all season. Aparently defenseman Chuck "Buzzcut" Calvert takes the PIM poll as a challenge, as he racked up 3, enough to get ejected! (Just kidding, Chuck, but the webmaster will keep the poll up, as it seems to be a tight race!) Garrett Straus put the BM's on the scoreboard, as he scored 5 goals and had 2 assists, including the game winner and 2 shorthanded goals. The ButtMonkeys have 1 game left in the regular season, and they are focused on building and maintaining momentum into the playoffs. Tight defense and solid goaltending are vital to a good playoff run, and the BM's look to continue to be strong in these 2 areas all the way to the championship.
