The dinobots are the strangest characters in Transformers. They were not originally on The Ark when it crashed. Instead, Wheeljack, one of the Autobots, was fascinated by the Earths dinosaurs. Wheeljack and Rachet, another of the Autobots, built three Dinobots: Grimlock a t-rex and leader of the dinobots, Slag a triceratops, and Sludge a brontosaurus. They started off very stupid, but became smarter after battling the Decepticons. Later on, Megatron, the leader of the Decepticons convinced the 3 Dinobots to fight against the Autobots. After being defeated by the Dinobots, including two new ones- Swoop a teradon, and Snarl a stegosarus, Optimus Prime saved Grimlock's life, which caused him to reject the Decepticons, and the whole group of Dinobots are now allys of the Autobots
