This is the page where you will find my thoughts on
each and every possible pairing in Tales of Symphonia. With each entry, you will
find my approval rating from a scale of 0 to 10, a summary of my thoughts, the
pros of the 'ship, and the cons of the 'ship. These have been divided into two
sections: HeroXHero pairings (all heterosexual) and other pairings.

Lloyd and Sheena

My thoughts: ***THE BEST PAIRING
OF ALL TIME, HANDS DOWN!!!*** Many would argue as to whether Lloyd would end up
with Colette or Sheena in the end. While both sides have their valid points, I
go with Sheena m'self. The "affectionate" moments in the game between Lloyd and
Sheena seem to be more so than Colette. Yes, they are early childhood friends
and in Flanoir, Colette wants to be close to Lloyd. However, in Flanoir,
Heimdall, and a few other places, Sheena tried to beat into Lloyd's head the
fact that, hey, she likes him as more than a friend. Sheena is much more close
to Lloyd in personality than even Colette. Someone once made the point that
perhaps the biggest thing that seperates Lloyd and Colette is that Colette is
too self-sacrificing while Lloyd is willing to sacrifice no one. Sheena is the
same way. After all, how come she couldn't bring herself to kill Colette? Also,
once she discovered with the Regeneration process was all about, she became
opposed to the whole idea as well. I could go on for a while longer but i think
I'll stop here. Nothing against Colette. In fact, I think she's really cool. Of
all the 'ships that I like but don't use, Lloyd and Colette are my favorite.
Pros:
-many hints throughout the game (even more so than LloydXColette)
-nearly flawless personality match
-large number of shared values
-very small age difference
-best overall 'ship in my opinion
Cons:
-the shadow of doubt cast upon them due to the short amount of time they
have known each other (in defense of this, unlike other poorly done rpg
romances, it is not looks that draws this couple together. Also, it is clearly
not "Love at first sight". It was more like "Violence at first sight"
o.o')
Zelos and Colette
Approval rating: 8.5/10
I'm sure many people have doubted this relationship at first but it seems that
quite a few people have come to accept it now. This is a potentially strong
relationship and it's even better with the wrong circumstances. The couple seems
highly unlikely if you know anything
about Zelos and Colette but I honestly
believe that it would work. There's no doubt that one side would have to make a
radical personality change to perfectly fit with the other, and I think that
Zelos, not Colette, would be the one to change. While he doesn't show it very
often, Zelos has a very chivalrous side and he can be quite the gentleman,
meaning that he's already part-way there to becoming more like Colette. If it
came down to looking cool and sexy or "degrading himself by helping a girl like
Colette" (in the eyes of the Upper Class of Meltokio), I'm sure he would choose
Colette. Going back to circumstances, whether Zelos is killed, spared, or
crippled at the Tower of Salvation matters little. If anyone can forgive Zelos
for his crimes, it's Colette.
Pros:
-perfect pairing if given the proper situation
-Colette is the most likely of the females to forgive Zelos for any crimes
he has committed
-Colette's innocent personality would most likely bring about Zelos'
knightly side, thus making him a good match for her
-Colette's innocence would make her immune to any sort of innuendo that
Zelos used towards her, perhaps making him realize that Colette really is a girl
of great inner substance
Cons:
-one or the other would have to change their personality in order to fit
with the other
-6 year age difference (not too big of a problem)
Genis and Presea
Approval Rating: 8/10
Ah, quite possibly the most widely accepted of any of the 'ships, surpassing
even Colloyd and Sheloyd.. Given their ages, the only other people that could be
in a meaningful relationship with Genis or Presea would be Colette and Lloyd
(respectively, of course). The two make a very cute couple, despite the fact
that, at first, Presea feels indifferent to Genis. Although no real signs of
romance are ever returned by Presea during the game, it's very obvious that she
is very fond of him. Perhaps the one thing holding her back is that, despite her
body being only 12 years old, she still has the mind and soul of a 28-year old
woman. Because of this, she feels reluctant to give her heart to a 12-year old
boy. However, I believe that, as time passes, she come to accept more and more
the fact that she has to, more or less, start her life over again as the 12 year
old girl that everyone has come to know as Presea. With Genis at her side, the
two could grow up together and their romance could flourish, much like that of
high-school sweet-hearts.
Pros:
-perfect physical age difference
-the love blossoms very early in their lives, allowing to grow up together in
more ways than one
Cons:
-could be considered nothing more than a first crush for Genis since he is for
the longest time only attracted to Presea's cuteness
-16 year difference in levels of maturity
Regal and Raine
Approval Rating: 9/10
If people didn't think Zellette was weird enough, I'm sure this one will be.
I'm sure many people were ready to throw things at me when I decided to pair up
Raine with Regal as opposed to Kratos, Kraine being one of the most widely
accepted couple out there. Let me try to explain though. It's obvious that,
Kratos aside, Raine and Regal are easily the most professional members of the
father, serving a role similar to that of the mom and dad of the group. While
they don't show any particular romantic interest for each other in the game,
they don't show any disinterest either, such as how many of the females feel
about Zelos. They are both very level-headed and seem to share many similar
interests, such as a love of knowledge and a love of sophistication. Given a
chance, this couple could work surprisingly well.
Pros:
-both are very mature in the ways of the world thus allowing to proceed with
a relationship in an extremely sensible manner
-Regal is a good-hearted, honorable man who truly knows what love is all about
and Raine, while inexperienced in love herself, would not allow herself to
succumb to petty things such as a crush
-both are very learned and share many similar interests
Cons:
-9 year age difference (at their age, this is hardly a problem but...)
-Regal may find it hard to move on from Alicia
Lloyd and Colette
Approval Rating: 9/10
Lloyd and Colette have known each other for as long as they've been able to
run around and talk (10+ years), giving them an edge on other couple in that
respect. Like most rpg's, Colette fits the mold of the "sweet-hearted girl next
door" and Lloyd serves as knight in shining armor for her. It's obvious that
they care very deeply for each other, but what makes this pairing less likely
than Sheloyd (to me) is the fact that Lloyd and Colette share more of a big
brother/little sister kind of love than a romantic kind of love. Despite that,
this makes for a very cute couple and is my favorite 'ship of the ones I don't
use.
Pros:
-could very easily become a "childhood sweethearts" kind of relationship
-the two know each other perhaps even better than their own parents do
-many signs throughout the game (second only to LloydXSheena)
-very small age difference
Cons:
-conflicting personalities; Colette's willingness to sacrifice herself
doesn't sit well with Lloyd's desire to sacrifice no one
-although signs of them being together are plentiful, they are relatively light
in nature when compared to almost any other female
-Lloyd may find it difficult to love someone he considers to be his little
sister
Lloyd and Presea
Approval Rating:
9.5/10
I once doubted the seriousness of this
one. Then, when I read "Four
Years Since We Last Met" by
funkymoleperson, I changed my mind. Although it's not one of my preferred
'ships, I still think very highly of it. The first thing that throws people off
is the fact that she is only 12 years old (physdically) while Lloyd is 17.
However, in funkymoleperson's fic, this 'ship takes place 4 years after the game
ends, making Presea a very mature 16 (32 mentally) and Lloyd 21. While the
number of years between them is still the same at 5, I think most people would
agree that there is less of a rift between 16 and 21 than 12 and 17. Because of
this, this couple is a double-edged sword: Off the bat, it just wouldn't work.
Presea is too young physically (which isn't a problem except for the fact that
some people would see it as taboo) and she is still trying put her soul back
together piece by piece. Given four or five years though, Presea would surely
have pieced her life back together and the physical relationship would lose it's
taboo-ness. I personally like this 'ship more than Genis and Presea, but since
Lloyd is already taken in my storyline, she's stuck with Genis. Throughout the
game, Lloyd does more to help Presea than anyone else does. He essentially helps
to fill the holes in her soul and she is most likely to think more fondly of
Lloyd than anyone else because of this, thus making her more attracted to Lloyd
than Genis.
Pros:
-unlike Genis, Lloyd is far more likely to be attracted to Presea simply by
the strength of her soul. His desire to help her piece her life back together
would be the most likely event that jump-starts this 'ship
-Presea seems to be able to sense the sincerity of Lloyd, making it far easier
to trust him and allow him to help her
-neither is attracted to the other by looks. their hearts are brought together
by what really makes true love work: the beauty of their spirits (or the
potential beauty of Presea's spirit)
-potentially the most spiritually beautiful of all the relationships (yes, even
more so than LloydXSheena)
-many signs throughout the Flanoir, Heimdall, and other side-quest scenes
Cons:
-5 year physical age difference (at their young age (especially Presea), 5
years is a big difference). This makes a more... physical relationship (not
necessarily sexual) difficult to deal with and makes it harder for others to
accept
-11 years mental age difference (this isn't much of a con since much of Presea's
soul has been wiped clean anyway)
-Patience is the key here. No one other than Lloyd or Regal would have the
patience to make any relationship with Presea work to its fullest extent
Lloyd and Raine
Approval Rating: 7.5/10
Hmm... I'm okay with this 'ship, but it's my least favorite of the LloydXfemalehero
pairings. There is a large void that seperates the personalities of these two
and Lloyd could never hope to match Raine's intelligence or professionalism.
However, Raine has been Lloyd's teacher for many, many years and this, if
nothing else, has, in a sense, forced the two to share a close bond of trust and
friendship. Despite the fact that LLoyd knows "The Professor" can take care of
herself, he never hesitates to jump to her aid and she obviously gladdened by
this. Being a half-elf, she feels that it would be hard for anyone to care for
her the way Lloyd does (Regal aside). Although a teacher/student romantic
relationship may seem scandalous, it's not as bad as one might think. Given a
chance, this might prove to be a good 'ship.
Pros:
-the two of them have known each other for 10+ years
-Lloyd isn't blinded by racism and, except for his lack of intelligence, could
serve as the near-perfect man for Raine
Cons:
-least likely of the LloydXfemalehero pairings to happen
-7 year age difference (not that big of a factor in this case)
-a relationship between these two, a student and teacher, is, at the very least,
taboo
Genis and Colette
Approval Rating: 8.5/10
...what? O.o Hold on a sec, don't jump the gun. This is one 'ship you don't
hear much about. Many people don't think it would work, but let's think about
this for a sec. Raine aside (for obvious reasons... O.o), who other than Lloyd
has spent many years by Colette's side as a friend? Genis of course. He bears
much love for Colette as if she was a big sister. Like Lloyd to Raine, Colette
would put racial divides aside and ignore the fact that Genis is, indeed, a
half-elf. One might ask about the age difference between the two, that being
four years. That's not much better than Presea and Lloyd, right? Not exactly. If
you remember, Colette just turns 16 on the first day of the game. One could
assume that Genis is at least 12 1/2, thus making the difference only 3 1/2
years. This may not seem like much of a difference, but given their young ages,
every half-year really counts. I also like this 'ship more than Genis and
Presea, but since Colette is taken by Zelos, again, Presea is stuck with Genis.
Pros:
-the two have known each other for quite a while
-next to Lloyd, Genis serves as the second closest person to Colette's heart
-judging by her personality alone, it seems that nothing would please Colette
more than to forever be with one of the boys she grew up with
-in my opinion, the cutest of all the possible pairings that actually makes
sense
-while Genis may find pretty or even beautiful, unlike Presea, it is
Colette's spirit and not her looks that would grab Genis' romantic interest
Cons:
-4 year age difference (at their young age, this is fairly critical
-Colette would be slow to pick up on anything Genis says
-Genis' superiority complex and relative lack of patience could be a problem at
first. However, if given a few years, these negative personality traits could
easily be worked out his system for good
Zelos and Raine
Approval Rating:
7/10
I'm actually pretty fond of this
pairing. The age difference is only 2 years, so that's a good start. While it is
true that, from the get-go, Raine despises Zelos' amoral personality, one could
perceive this as Raine playing hard-to-get. As for the amoral personality, while
Zelos may act like he's god's gift to women, he still shares a position in high
society that provides him with a fondness for knowledge and sophistication: both
of which Raine love. So far, so good. One negative point though: Initially,
Zelos dislikes half-elves. Not hate, but just dislike (can you blame him? One
killed his unloving mother after all). Throughout the game, his dislike of half-elves
gradually fades, thus eliminating one barrier separating these two. They say
that opposites attract, and I believe it in this case. Putting together a
loudmouth aristocrat with a relatively quiet and shy school teacher seems too
unlikely to happen, no? I disagree. Like the Zelette pairing, Zelos would most
likely be the one that would change in order to please the professor, once he
realizes that she truly is a better person than himself. He may act like a jerk,
but, as I said before, Zelos is a knight-in-shining-armor in disguise. His
maturity shows in critical moments in the game, especially in his Flanoir scene
with Lloyd. Although not as suitable for Raine as the noble Regal Bryant or the
always heroic Lloyd, Zelos still makes for a fair match with Raine.
Pros:
-very close to each other in terms of age
-both are very intelligent
-although he doesn't seem like it, Zelos can be a knight in shining armor when
he wants to be. Just the kind of person that Raine needs...
Cons:
-very radical personality difference
-Raine would be at least a bit unlikely to give Zelos a chance even if he said
he would try to be sincere
Kratos and Sheena
Approval Rating:
6.5/10
While I don't
particularly see Kratos being with any woman other than Anna, if he
were to start seeing
another woman, it would most assuredly be a woman that reminds him of his wife.
Who better to fit this mold than Sheena? If Lloyd is truly like his mother and
if Sheena is so close to Lloyd personality wise, wouldn't that go to say that
she would be the female that best suits Kratos. One moment that sticks out to me
is right after the group first reaches Tethe'alla. During one of the skits,
while everyone is hating on Kratos, Sheena makes the point that she could see in
Kratos' eyes that he did not want to hurt his friends... the same look that was
in her eyes when she "tried" to kill Colette. Both Kratos and Sheena are very
brave and have a strong sense of justice. Although Kratos doesn't show his very
often, both of them also have hearts of gold and an immense love for friends and
family. As odd as this pairing may seem, this is my 2nd favorite Sheena pairing.
Pros:
-Theory: If Lloyd obtained his personality from his mother and Sheena is fairly
close to Lloyd in terms of personality, then it goes to say that Kratos would
see many similar traits between Sheena and Anna
-Neither looks at the outer beauty of the other but at the inner beauty instead
-Both are very family oriented
-2nd most likely of the KratosXfemalehero pairings to happen (I personally like
this one better than KratosXRaine)
Cons:
-Kratos may find it too difficult to let go of Anna, even after so many
years. This holds true for all Kratos pairings.
-The thought of Kratos dating a close friend of Lloyd would be considered highly
taboo. This holds true for all Kratos pairings.
-Astronomical age difference (this isn't that big of a factor considering that
Kratos looks like he's about 28). This holds true for all Kratos pairings.
-Sheena may find it too hard to forgive Kratos for his past crimes enough for a
romantic relationship to exist
Zelos and Sheena
Approval Rating: 2.5/10 (no, I
didn't give it a 0. It has a few good points.
The bane of my existence. These two
are nowhere near each other in terms of personality. What makes ZelosXColette
any different you ask? Sheena displays her dislike of Zelos quite a few times
through the course of the game while Colette at least shows respect for him. The
only moment that could be considered Shelos-ish would be when Zelos drags Sheena
away from Kuchinawa, this saving her life. If nothing else, it's easy to tell
that Sheena has far more interest in the self-less Lloyd. After a while of no
success with any of the party's ladies, Zelos would surely come to realize
(eventually) that being a gentleman would be a much better method than being a
playboy. If he made this change, it's easy to see him with the likes of Colette
or perhaps even Raine (not Presea though). Sheena would not be likely to buy
into his personality change, whether it was legitimate or not, simply for the
fact that she's known him so long and would not be quick to accept such a
change, considering how well she knows him. If some factors in-game are changed,
this might work, but as it stands now, hell no. Sheloyd forever, yo.
Pros:
-it is often hinted that the two have known each other for quite some time.
At one point, the two may have even briefly dated.
-Zelos may actually care for Sheena, but...
Cons:
-...he never shows the legitimacy of his feelings. Furthermore, he comes off
as a boorish pretty-boy, a major turn-off for Sheena. She obviously wants a man
with integrity and values.
-A personality change in Zelos would be necessary. However, if and when he
should change, it would probably be too late for him to get Sheena, for she
would most likely move on to Lloyd or even Regal or Genis. Besides, if this did
happen, Zelos would be far more likely to betray the party at the Tower of
Salvation. His life is supposedly terrible and if he can't have Sheena, then
there's no reason to live. A bit cruel, but after his death, there would be no
further worrying about a possible Shelos (and that's a good thing)
Regal and Presea
Approval Rating:
0.5/10
No, no, no, no, no, no! Regal is too
honorable to date the sister of his former lover whom he killed. Presea may
forgive Regal, but there's no way that she would fall in love with the man that
killed her sister, even if it was the right thing to do. If absolutely nothing
else, there's a nearly 20-year physical age difference between the two. That's,
uh... pedophilia! (...however that's spelled) Just... no.
Pros:
-Regal is a sincere man and would do everything in his power to make it up
to Presea for what happened to her sister, even if it wasn't his fault
Cons:
-21 year physical age difference... now that's bad. If Presea could somehow
get her true body back, then this might be rated a 2/10 or a 2.5/10.
-Regal killed her sister! Although what happened to her wasn't his fault and
Presea may one day forgive him, there is no way that these two could be
romantically involved as the ghost of the slain-by-Regal Alicia looks on
Raine and Genis
Approval Rating: 0/10
...what the *&^% is wrong with you?!
Blarf! 'nuff said!
Pros:
-Ugh, do I have to find a pro? *sigh* Well, if ZelosXSheena and RegalXPresea
have one, then I guess this needs one too. Umm... they've known each other for
12 years? That's a good start, right?
-Raine's motherly and sisterly attitude just might lead to a great relationship.
One problem though...
Cons:
-...they're brother and sister!!! Isn't that enough of a con?!
Kratos and Presea
Approval Rating:
3.5/10
Absolutely not! This
is just as bad as RegalXPresea...well not quite as bad, but it's still bad! Not only is her body far too young for a
physical relationship, but her soul is, for lack of a better word, toast. Kratos
is a realist and might not even bother with trying to save Presea. If he did
take her in, however, he would have to treat her like a daughter above all
else... almost like an infant. If that isn't reason enough for this to not work,
then I don't know what is. Update: After
putting some thought to this one, I've reconsidered my stand against it... but
only a little bit. Kratos would not be so cold as I suggested earlier to simply
abandon Presea. If nothing else, he would not want an innocent soul like Presea
to turn out like his beloved Anna did. That being said, if he could piece
together her soul and find some way to restore her body to it's former glory(?),
then this coupling might work. Otherwise, I stand by what I said before.
Pros:
-Kratos is one of only 3 men that would devote the time necessary to
restoring Presea to her true self (the other two being Regal (horrible pairing)
and Lloyd (awesome pairing))
-Kratos unwillingness to allow Presea to become like Anna would make for a good
jump start for a relationship
-Unlike the other females, Presea wasn't around when Kratos first betrayed the
party, so she would hold less ill-will towards him
Cons:
-astronomical age difference. 'nuff said
-Presea would most likely have little interest in any of the males save for
Lloyd or Genis
-There's little for Kratos to feel attracted to Presea for
Sheena and Regal
Approval Rating:

Hmm... this one's
interesting. The first obvious negative about this 'ship is the 14-year age
difference. Also, Regal is no where near as light-hearted as Sheena. However,
they both share a very strong sense of justice. Regal would obviously let his
past get in the way with the relationship, but, if everyone remembers
correctly, Sheena feels that she killed many people as well. The two can relate
with each other. This couple would be very serious and would be no wear near as
light-hearted as Sheloyd or Colloyd. Despite this, this oddball couple has a
real shot of doing fairly well.
Pros:
-the two can relate in terms of the know what it's like to unwillingly kill
people that they love. They may find solace from their past from each other
-this would obviously be a very serious relationship and would run into few
problems along the way
Cons:
-14 year age difference (moderate effect)
-although this is perhaps the 2nd most likely Regal pairing, it is still
unlikely to happen due to Regal's circumstances
-while serious herself, Sheena is more likely to go for someone more
light-hearted like Lloyd or maybe even Genis
Kratos and Colette
Approval Rating:
5.5/10
A very odd couple to
be sure. Putting aside the age difference of 4,000+ years aside (really now,
it's only like... 12 years difference, since he looks like he's 28), Colette
often shows great respect for Kratos, even from the first time they met. Even
after his betrayal, she constantly reminds the party that Kratos is still hoping
them in one way or another. In fact, if memory serves me, not once during the
entire game does she condemn Kratos for what he did. Like what I did with Zelos
and Colette, if anyone can forgive Kratos for his crimes and come to love him,
it's Colette. Despite all this, this 'ship is very unlikely to happen, simply
because everyone would agree that the idea of Lloyd's dad dating one of his best
friends is highly disturbing. As another positive note, there's no doubt that
this would be a very loving relationship. Kratos' strong sense of justice and
protection mixes well with Colette's infinite love for everything and everyone.
Still, highly unlikely to happen.

-Colette would be the most likely of the females to forgive Kratos for his
past crimes
-this would without a doubt become a very meaningful relationship
Cons:
-Kratos may find it too difficult to let go of Anna, even after so many
years. This holds true for all Kratos pairings.
-The thought of Kratos dating a close friend of Lloyd would be considered highly
taboo. This holds true for all Kratos pairings.
-Astronomical age difference (this isn't that big of a factor considering that
Kratos looks like he's about 28). This holds true for all Kratos pairings.
-Remember kids, he did trick her...
Genis
and Sheena
Approval Rating:
6.5/10
I admit, I don't
really like this couple, but I don't hate it either. Whatever the case, I shall
give it a fair review. First, there's the age difference: 7 years. Same
difference between Lloyd and Raine and a coupling like that is accepted.
However, this is not the same and to support this I will bring up the same
argument I used in the LloydXPresea 'ship: there's a much bigger difference in
19 and 12 than 24 and 17. The idea of a very young adult getting together with a
pre-teen is kinda taboo. Age aside, the personalities are pretty far off from
each other. Sheena is far too modest and Genis will brag anytime he gets the
chance. His superiority complex could turn out to be a real mood killer.
However, this is not to say that Genis is a jerk and couldn't fit with Sheena.
Like Lloyd and unlike (pre-Mithos) Zelos, Genis would appreciate Sheena for her
heart and soul and not her body. He may have slightly less innocence than Lloyd
(but that's cuz Lloyd just doesn't have a clue period) but this is perhaps a
good thing as it puts him on the same level of thinking as Sheena, meaning he
would not be totally oblivious to any emotions Sheena shows toward him. However,
his heart is young and it would certainly take some time for him to understand
the feelings of a young adult female such as Sheena. The 'ship could work, but
I'm not a fan of it.
Pros:
-Genis would be quick to catch on to anything Sheena hints at
-it would take time, but this 'ship could blossom into something great
Cons:
-Genis' superiority complex conflicts heavily with Sheena's modesty
-7 year age difference (HUGE problem at their age)
-Sheena is more likely to end up with someone close to her age or older; someone
that can protect her from the world's evils
Colette and Regal
Approval Rating:
6.5/10
Uh... hmm. Huge age
difference of 17 years... that's one more year than Colette has even been alive.
'course, that doesn't stop the possibility of a KratosXColette pairing, no?
Right, so let's get to the facts that matter the most. Regal is always punishing
himself for killing Alicia. Exposure to Colette could do him so good. Not onlt
would she be the most willing to forgive him of the females, but her cheerful
personality and kind soul could be what drags Regal away from his own inner
darkness. Regal needs to move on. He may even
want to move on, but
he just doesn't know how. Colette just might be the answer. As for what he'd do
for her, there's no doubt that he'd be fiercely loyal to her, even more so than
Lloyd. Why more than Lloyd, her friend of over a decade? Simple: after the
tragedy of Alicia's death, there is absolutely no way in hell that he would
allow anything bad to happen to Colette. He would no hesitate to lay down his
life for her if it came down to that. True, the other males would do it as well,
but there's no doubt that a special kind of fire would burn within Regal as he
did so. In the end, I think this is more like a father/daughter relationship,
but a lover's relationship is not out of the question.
Pros:
-Colette would find what Regal did in the past to be easily forgivable
-more than anyone else, Colette would remind Regal most of Alicia, making her a
good fit
-easily the 2nd most beautiful of the Regal pairings
Cons:
-17 year age difference (large effect)
-like any other Regal 'ship, he would find it hard to move on from Alicia.
Furthermore, Regal would not weigh down someone as spiritually beautiful as

Okay, I'm pretty close
to just disliking this coupling all-together, but maybe someone can prove me
wrong. I don't hate it enough to put it on the above list, so maybe there's a
chance. Let's start comparing and contrasting. Age, 10 years difference
(physically). Now, I believe that Zelos can conform to almost any female's
personality, but Presea is too special of a case. Her soul has more or less been
lost, and there's no way that his care-free attitude could help her to rebuild
it. Yes, he can be a nice guy when he wants to, but he simply wouldn't have the
patience and overall goodness in his heart to help Presea re-become the woman
that she once was. In my opinion, only Lloyd would be capable of this (no, not
Genis either.). No, I take that back: it's possible, but it would take far
longer for him (or any other male for that matter) than Lloyd to "heal" Presea.
This would be the kind of relationship that would take years to develop. Again,
I don't like this one and I think it's very unlikely, but who knows? Maybe I'm
wrong.
Pros:
-like Colette, Presea's innocence may bring out Zelos' knightly side and he
may feel compelled to help her and bring some light into her life
-though he may joke about it, a physical relationship would be the last thing on
his mind. He would have to be attracted to Presea's spirit or to her plight
Cons:
-10 year (physical) age difference. (huge impact)
-physical relationship is virtually out of the question
-unless Presea asked him herself, Zelos isn't very likely to take considerable
notice of Presea's condition
Kratos and Raine

One of the most
over-done and over-rated couples I've ever seen. That's not to say that I
totally hate it. Rather, let's just say that I'm not as fond of this 'ship as
many might hope I would. With any Kratos pairing, age is not a factor, so I'll
toss that aside. Speaking on personalities alone, I think Kratos would be more
likely to end up with Sheena than Raine. While Raine shares his love of
knowledge and sophistication (much like Regal) and her personality is fairly... ahh... for lack of a better word (forgive me) dry, much like his own (forgive me
again), I'm sure Kratos would appreciate a woman with a personality that much
more closely resembles that of Anna. Colette or Sheena would be much more likely
to end up with Kratos based on closeness to Anna alone, with Sheena perhaps
fitting the role better than anyone else. Despite that however, Raine could
still make for a good match for Kratos. Maybe I just don't like this pairing
that much because I see it entirely too much? Ah well. Given time, maybe I'll
grow to like it.
Pros:
-although the true age difference is astronomical, the Kratos and Raine look
to be pretty close to the same age
-both share a love for sophistication and knowledge
-although Kratos dating any of Lloyd's friends would strike Lloyd as very
odd, Raine would be the most likely of the females to receive Lloyd's approval
-most likely of the Kratosxfemalehero pairings to happen... according to
most people anyway. See my first con.
Cons:
-most overrated pairing of all time. period
-Raine would find it very hard to forgive the man who betrayed one of her
students
-being a sort of mother herself, Raine would find it despicable that Kratos
would betray his own son
-not many if any signs seen throughout the game, despite what many people think
-the chances of Genis approving of this relationship are very low
Note: If Kratos' betrayal never happened, I would rate this pairing anywhere
from 8 to 9. His betrayal was absolutely killer for this 'ship

Other Pairings
Kratos and Anna
Approval Rating:
10/10
Note: I use this
pairing even though Anna is not in my story. This one is obvious: it's Kratos'
wife. She may be dead now, but has not let go yet, nor will he ever, the way I
see it. If for nothing else, he would not seek a new romantic interest for
Lloyd's sake and out of respect for his dead wife. Kratos lives his life the
best way he can in a way that Anna would approve of (in the post-Mithos era). He
sees Lloyd as a male-version of his sweet-hearted wife and, although Lloyd
doesn't realize it, Kratos constantly tries to learn from Lloyd so that he too
may become more like his departed wife.
Pros:
-everything; like any good married couple, this couple was given plenty of
time to allow their affection for each other to blossom into something
beautiful.
-brings about the birth of Lloyd and the beginning of the Aurion family
Cons:
-None. The couple is already established so any doubt that once was cast
(which was none since it already happened but still) is now gone.
Regal and Alicia

Rating: 9.5/10
This one's too easy. Like Kratos and Anna, this couple was already established.
The only thing that stops this from being a perfect relationship like the
aforementioned one is that Regal and Alicia never married and never had a child.
However, this is a partially good thing as it doesn't leave Regal as attached to
Alicia as Kratos is to Anna. Of Kratos and Regal, Regal is the most likely of
the two to find love once again.
Pros:
-the couple is already established and, even after Alicia's death, Regal
still cares very deeply for her
Cons:
-they never married or had a child
Lloyd and Chocolat
Approval Rating:
7/10
Warning! I do not approve of yuri in
general and I especially hate yaoi (Don't get me wrong, I don't hate
homosexuals). Looking at every character in the game, I don't feel that any yaoi
and/or yuri pairings are possible... except, perhaps, for one. Although I don't
like yaoi/yuri pairings, I feel that perhaps this one pairing is is not so
radical that it doesn't deserve at least a bit of coverage. Again, I do not
approve of this pairing over a maleXfemale pairing. I'm just giving it a fair
shot since it serves as the most likely of the yaoi/yuri pairings to happen. If
this sort of thing offends you (I don't blame you), then skip the next entry.
Sheena and Colette

7/10 as I currently see things, 9.5/10 if I
supported yaoi/yuri
Yes, two females. Easily the most likely of the yaoi/yuri pairings to happen.
The age difference is small so that's a good start... ah, I know. Enough with
the boring details, right? How could I even consider a pairing like this? Easy.
It may be hard, but, for now, let us close our eyes and ignore the fact that
these two are women. Their personalities are similar to each other, the main
difference being that Colette is far more innocent than Sheena. They both have
beautiful hearts/spirits/souls and would find it very difficult to fight with
one another for any reason whatsoever. Yes, Sheena did try to kill Colette at
one point but this was before she knew anything about Colette. Remember how at
the campfire scene she said that she might have to kill Colette anyway? When the
time came for her to do so, she didn't, did she? In fact, she did everything she
could to try and help her. She was willing to feel the wrath of the people of
Tethe'alla and fail her people rather than take the life of this obviously
wonderful girl. Now then, open your eyes... these two people are women. Was that
so bad? Maybe I'll write a one-shot for this one sometime...
Fun Fact: Did you know that "Reluctant Saviors" was originally meant to be my
first attempt at writing yuri?
Pros:
-small age difference
-very similar personalities
-both know what it is like to be the saviors of their respective worlds,
allowing them to relate and share their pain with one another
-within a relatively short time, this would be a very meaningful and beautiful
relationship
-both are very brave and would protect one another till the bitter end
-2nd best Sheena pairing if I supported yuri
-best overall yaoi/yuri pairing
-almost no actual cons
Cons:
-It's yuri.
-only the 4th best Colette pairing (despite the fact that the 9.5 is higher than
LloydXColette, ZelosXColette, and GenisXColette. Sounds weird, but it's all in
how you look at it)
-Lloyd fits better with either of the females than they do with each other
