The Rules

1. Have Fun
This is the most important rule. This is all just for fun. I know some may be skeptical since the last two of these I ran ended with me first winning, then taking second place. Well I've got a story planned that ensures I'll not be in the Final Four, more than likely not in the Elite Eight even. Sweet Sixteen? We'll have to see.

But the most important tool to having fun with this is my old friend, the "Suspension of Disbelief" rule. This is a fictional story, and in fiction anything is possible. Don't have a 9th-degree black belt in Shaolin Kung Fu in real life? You do here. Can't race a motorcycle full speed through city streets? You can here. Wouldn't survive a 30-foot fall into a garbade dumpster in real life? You probably can here, but if that dumpster's full of glass and metal, well... you get the picture.

2. Your Stats
OK, quite simply, your stats are what make or break you in this game. Everybody will start with 40 points, which they will distribute to eight categories:

*You may not start off with a score of 1 or 10 in any stat. Also, some stats have additional guidelines.

  • Offense: This is basically how good you are in a straight-up fight.
  • Defense: And this is how well you can defend yourself against an attacker.
  • Ability (to Kill): Not to be confused with Offense, your Ability is just that: how able you are to kill somebody. You may not start with a score higher than 3 in this category.
  • Willingness (to Kill): Are you willing to use your weapons to kill your friends and acquaintances if need be, or would you find yourself wanting to maintain your humanity?
  • Mental Stability: This is how in control of yourself you are. Flip out, and you're a danger to everyone, including yourself. Stay calm, and you'll lack the spur-of-the-moment attitude needed in a fight
  • Speed: This is how fast you are. You can't hit what you can't catch, but move too fast and you might go from the frying pan to the fire.
  • Strength: Muscles, baby! What kind of strength do you have?
  • Stealth: Do you move like the ninja or the nitwit? If you're quiet, you can sneak up on people but also risk not alarming people to your presence, possibly getting yourself caught in crossfire.

    3. Stat Modifiers, Hit Points, and Scoring
You start with 40 points to distribute to the stats listed above. Therefore, everyone will start with a Base Score of 40. At the start of the game, you will receive your Weapon Kit (which will consist of three numbers you choose). The Weapon Kit will provide you with 1 item from each of these categories:

  • Firearms: From handguns to grenade launchers and other fun things, your Firearm is your long distance weapon. Firearms tend to add big points to your Ability while taking away your Stealth, due to their noise.
  • Melee Weapons: Whether it's a concealable butterfly knife, a samurai katana, or just a good old-fashioned tire iron for busting skulls, your Melee Weapon is for close-quarter combat. Melee Weapons are better for upping your Offense and Defense, but they can reduce your Speed depending on the size of the weapon.
  • Extra Item: These can be anything. Some will be some kind of extra weapon like grenades or garotte wire. You might get a bulletproof vest, a lighter, or thermal goggles. You'll just have to see!

To see what each item can give you, please check out the Firearms Section, the Melee Weapons Section, and the Extra Items Section.

Everyone will start with 10 HP. The previous games required people to receive 4 hits in order to be out. The Elimination Requirement and Carrying Over of hits were way too confusing. So this time, it's just straight up 10HP. This time, though, random health items will be dropped. Check out what they are at the Health Items Section.

So, how exactly do you get eliminated in BR? That'll stay the same. Every day, you will cast a vote for three people. It may be the the three people you think will be out next. It may be the three people you want to be out next. Or it may be three random names you chose. To do that, you can do any of the following:

  • Go toThe JCon Battle Royale LiveJournal and post a Comment on each day's update post.
  • Send me an IM. My screen name is Ughzibub.

From there, I break out the dreaded D&D dice. I'll roll a 3d20 for each vote you get. If the total of those three rolls beats your Base Score, you take one HP of damage. I'll do my best to update every day with a small story, wherein any inflicted damage will be chronicled. This is gonna be MUCH easier than before. When you lose all 10HP, you are out and will receive an elimination sequence!

You will have to read each day's segments to see how many HP you lost. That's right, no more posting the result of each role. That'll cut down on the ugly appearance of the Comments section at the LJ.

    4. Picking up Weapons
The old rules had it so that the person who scored an elimination had first dibs on weapons. Not this time. Review the scenarios carefully, because someone may be hiding, ready to pounce. You may be ready to jump out for a better gun, but if someone else is waiting there, you leave yourself open. Translation? Attack of Opportunity. You can go for a weapon, but you risk having an automatic vote against you. Whether or not that vote succeeds is up to the dice.

You may only have three items on you at a time: 1 Firearm, 1 Melee, and 1 Extra. This is to ensure nobody gets incredibly overpowered like before. If you find a new weapon you want, you must discard the one you had before. Kind of like Grand Theft Auto!!

There will be random Item Drops from the BR Chopper (flown by Arnold!). At that time, I will announce the people close enough to go for each respective item. Claim it quickly and I'll roll to see if you get the item. Careful though! If someone else wants it too, you could both end up having automatic votes against you! After all, two dogs... one treat... you get the picture

    5. Teams
Teams are much different this time, in that you may only have one teammate. There will be no HP bonuses this time. Being in a team comes with ups and downs. When in a team, you will:
  • Receive +1 to your Offense and Defense
  • Be able to trade items with your teammate
  • Take a -1 to your Stealth
  • Risk being attacked if your teammate is attacked

    6. Untouchables
The Untouchables are, ironically, the people who have no chance to win the game, due to story or whatnot. You cannot vote for these people. There are two groups:
  • The Fodder List: Yep, these are people who are part of JCon and really, there's little to no chance they'd even know about this or participate in it. They're just there to eat bullets and test the sharpness of our blades.
  • Bobo: Yes yes, I know, that's me. But like I said: I've got plans for the story that guarantee I won't win. Yes, I WILL die in the story. Will you be the lucky one who kills me? Yaaaaay!
