ZACK
Zack is a mercenary from Pharae. As explained in Fiora`s A conversation with him, he was a friend of Eliwood`s, until Eliwood became thirteen. Marcus followed Eliwood everywhere, and deemed Zack unworthy of him, due to his non-noble lineage. He joined the Black Fang at the age of 15, and was dispatched to Valor Isle. Fiora opened up his eyes to the true evil.

Zack appears in the mission 19xx, near the Eclipse chest. He carries: Steel Sword, Steel Axe, Elixer, and a Body Ring. He will not attack anybody, and either Fiora must talk to him, or he will talk to Eliwood if he approaches within his range. If he is brought under 15 HP, he will attempt to escape into the nearby stairwell. If Fiora talks to him, the conversation will be like this:
Zack: You, pegasus knight! Are you of Lord Eliwood`s army?
Fiora: What, me? Yes, do you need a reason to kill me?
Zack: No, no, no, it is not like that. You see...
*Together We Ride plays*
Zack: I am a mercenary who wants to join Eliwood`s army. I swear upon my heart that I will not bring harm upon your lord, or anyone in his army.
Fiora: Oh...?
Zack: I have my reasons. I will collect my pay later, if Lord Eliwood so desires.
Fiora: ...You`re quite the strange one.
If he talks to Lord Eliwood....
Zack: Hark! Eliwood!
Eliwood: Hmm? And you are?
Zack: Don`t be fooled by these clothes, I wish to join your side. I am a mercenary, I will collect my pay later.
Eliwood: Okay. Just tell me your name, and we should be on our way.
Zack: I am known as Zack.
Eliwood: Okay, let`s get moving!

F: It`s Fiora. So, will you tell me now?

F: I`m a mercenary too, I`m not ashamed of my past.
Z: Huh? A young girl like you, a mercenary?
F: Yes. My whole troop was wiped out because of my incompetence, and I joined
Lord Eliwood`s army.
Z: Incompetence, hmm? Failing does not mean lack of skill. It is lack of
confidence and belief.
F: Hmmm? What does that mean?
Z: It means that you didn`t believe in yourself, or your unit. You were fighting
for the money in front of you, correct?
F: ......Yes...
Z: Don`t be ashamed. A lot of mercenaries are just barely squeezing by in life.
The fact that you`re here, with Lord Eliwood, Hector, and Lady Lyn means you`ve
done some good.
F: Then why did you fight with the Black Fang?
Z: I was hired, nothing more.
F: Then why did you fight in the first place?
