Chapter 1
Hello. My name is Sarah.
No last name. It’s just Sarah. If I told you, they would be able to find me. That could possibly mean the end of the human race if it happened.
I was staring out of the airplane window, taking my last look at America for 4 whole years. I am moving to Japan. I spend most of my time in America, Japan, or an airplane flying from one to the other. The Chi decided that I should go to school in Japan. I’m not sure why, but I think it is because the Yeerks are not as numerous there.
The Chi have raised me for as long as I can remember. They are robots made in outer space. I’ve always known about the Yeerk threat, but I never worried about it until he had asked me to join the Animorphs a few months ago.
Jake approached me one day, asking if I would join. No one really wants to fight aliens, but I agreed. I got a few morphs. My battle morph was a lion, and the other morphs I have are a butterfly, a dog, and an eagle. We went on a few missions. Now that summer is ending, I am on this plane, moving to the Chi living in Japan.
I stared out the window, watching the Pacific Ocean below the plane, wondering if the man next to me or the family behind me or even the pilot were controllers. I dozed off. Seemingly minutes later, the pilot was droning on the loudspeakers about seatbelts. We were landing.
Minutes later, the plane landed and people piled out. I eventually made my way through the mad rush and into the airport. I started glancing around for the Chi who would pick me up. What were their names?
That was when I saw them, Hatori and Akito Sohma. I ran up to them and called out, “Hey!”
They noticed me. Akito said, “I was wondering if you got lost or something.”
Hatori said, “We’re here with, um, yeah… so don’t say anything about, uh…”
Seeing some humans were with them, I nodded. They didn’t want these people to know about the Chi. I was then introduced to Yuki Sohma and Tohru Honda. Apparently, Akito and Hatori were pretending to be in Yuki’s family.
We walked to Hatori’s car. Akito sat in the passenger seat. I was in the back seat with Yuki and Tohru. We drove for a while in an awkward silence, which I eventually broke by asking, “So… are you two in high school?”
Tohru replied, “Yeah, we’re sophomores.”
Hatori added, “You will be going to the same school.”
I said, “That’s cool. I guess you two are a year older than me.”
“Yeah,” Yuki said, “But don’t think that you’ll ever do better than Tohru in school.”
Tohru said, “I… promised my mom I’d do well in school… before she… died…”
“I’m so sorry,” I said compassionately, “but you are lucky to have known you’re mother. I never knew my parents.
Akito said, “Well, I remember them well enough. They were at the door one night, begging us to take you in. They were in danger and didn’t want you to-”
I interrupted, “Are we going to tell my entire life story? I guess you should start with the Ye-”
Akito hollered, “SHUT UP!!! You know nothing!!!”
I was quite scared. I’ve never seen a Chi angry. They can’t fight. I said, “What? Like you know more? C’mon, you’re the one who knows nothing!”
We spent the rest of the ride arguing over who knew less about Yeerks. Eventually, we arrived at the Sohma’s house. Momiji was waiting outside, “SARAH!!!”
I got out of the car, “Hey, Momiji! You haven’t grown much in two years.”
Tohru said, “Momiji, guess what Sarah’s going to our high school.”
Momiji started to prance around, “Sarah’s going to my school! Sarah’s going to my school! Are we going to be in the same class?”
I shrugged, “I dunno.”
Hatori said to Yuki and Tohru, “I guess I’d better take you two home now.”
A/N: I guess I’d better explain. Hatori, Akito, and Momiji are all Chi pretending to be humans. Tohru and Yuki (as well as Kyo, Hatsaharu, Kisa, etc.) are clueless about the Yeerk invasion. Sarah doesn’t know about the curse and I’ll add Yu Yu Hakusho soon, just wait for chapter 2.
