Fear the Unknown

By dragondolphin1990 Chapter 1

In the future: About 2000 years or so…

Rikku and the others were running away from Seymour Guado, the dead Maester of Yevon. She and the others had just killed, or assassinated, him. He refused to be Sent, so the angry Seymour was chasing after his killers. Rikku tripped, which caused Seymour to trip and fall. The impact of the fall caused time and space to rip apart, sending Rikku and the dead Maester to the past, before even Tidus was born.

Not that long ago: About 18 years ago…

Rikku landed with a thud on the ground. She stared at amazement and the forest behind her and the tall sky scrapers in front of her. She got up and walked toward the town.

…In some other place, Seymour was going through the same predicament. He, however, was in a different town than Rikku…

Rikku was walking through the town. She thought, ‘I wonder if there is Machina here?’ Her green, swilling eyes were darting everywhere, trying to take in all of the sights, when a man covered her mouth and threw her in a dark ally. He said, “With your eyes, anyone will be able to notice what you are.”

It was too dark for Rikku to see the man clearly, but he was obviously an Al Bhed hater, “I guess you don’t like me then…”

He said, “I never said that, I’m just saying that there are humans who would love to see you die.”

Rikku muttered under her breath, “Stupid Al Bhed haters!”

The man asked, “What’s an Al Bhed?”

Rikku was confused, “Uh… Don’t you know? We’re a race like the humans, Ronsos and Guados.”

The man said, “Well, I thought you were a demon.”

Rikku asked, “What’s a demon?”

As Rikku explained about herself and Spira, the man, whose name is Hiei, explained about demons. During this time, the two fell in love.

A little bit later: About 14 years ago, 4 years later…

Rikku found the place she was looking for in the woods. It was the place where Hiei lives. She was holding a child, about one year old. Hiei noticed her, “Rikku, what are you doing here?”

Rikku explained, “I cannot take care of a child any longer. A half Al Bhed may be like a human, but a half demon is unruly and impossible to be taken care of!”

Reluctantly, Hiei agreed to take care of their child, named Faer.

Present day, 14 years later

A fifteen year-old girl, like Faer, usually cared about makeup and rock stars, but Faer had to live in a forest. No one besides Faer and her parents knew that Faer existed, not even Hiei’s best friend, Kurama. For the past few years of her life, Faer had been training in combat.

Faer didn’t like her name because an anagram of it was fear and it rhymed with Care Bare.

Faer was a pretty girl, at least for someone who was half demon. She had short, black hair and her nails were long and sharp, like claws. She usually wears a tight red shirt that said, ‘Fear Me!” in black, a pair of jeans, and a black coat. Her shoes were once white, but were very dusty now. Faer’s hair was never brushed. She had sharp fang-like teeth.

Faer wasn’t as strong as a demon, but wasn’t as weak as an Al Bhed. She was quick, an expert pickpocketer, a trait common among the Al Bhed. Faer new nothing about Spira or her mother. It always annoyed Faer that her father was always gone. He hadn’t spent any time with her in over a month.

Faer sighed. She thought about how cool it would be to actually get to go to school and be with people her own age for once. Her father was nice, but he was, like, really, really, really old. Faer said to herself, “I’m sure that dad won’t mind if I go to town for just a few minutes…”

Faer left the forest, with her clawed hands thrust in her pockets. She sighed happily because it had been so long since she last went into town. She roamed the streets, looking for someone her age. Faer noticed a Jr. High getting out. The students would be a year or two younger that her, but close enough. Maybe one of them would talk to her.

Many students walked by Faer without even glancing her way. One girl, however, did speak to Faer. The girl had short brown hair and left with a black haired boy and an orange haired boy. The girl said, “Um… the High School is down the block.”

Faer replied, “I, uh, don’t go to school.”

The black haired boy said, “Wow, you must be so lucky.”

Faer sighed, “I’m not… I never get to talk with anyone my own age.”

The orange haired boy said, “That is so sad!”

The girl said, “We can be friends! I’m Kayko. They are Yusuke and Kuwabara.”

Kuwabara, the orange haired boy, whispered to Yusuke, the black haired boy, “I since the ghosts!”

Yusuke sighed, “Shut up, moron!”

Faer said, “It’s not nice to call your friends names. I’m Faer.”

Kuwabara said, “You’re name rhymes with the Care Bears!!!”

Faer said, “And you sound like a Kookaburra.”

Kuwabara sang, “Kookaburra sits in an old gum tree, eatin’ all the gum drops he can see!”

Another person, a red haired man, came up to us and said, “Kuwabara, shut up!”

Kuwabara was immediately quiet. Faer asked, “Hi.”

The man noticed Faer, and asked, “Who’re you?”

Faer replied, “I’m Faer.”

The man replied, “Hello, Faer, I’m Kurama. Do you mind if I hurt Kuwabara?”

Yusuke said, “Hurt him really bad!!!”

Kayko said, “Stop it! Don’t hurt each other!”

Faer said, “I had better be going now. Bye!”

Faer walked off, thinking to herself, ‘I’m glad I have four friends, even if they are a little… weird.’ She returned to the forest a little bit before her father.

Hiei said, “I’m sorry that I’ve been gone so long, but I was… um…”

“What?” Faer asked, “Where were you?”

Hiei said, “Some friends and I were in a tournament.”

Faer forgot to ask what kind of tournament, but it never crossed her mind that her father could be fighting against the world’s strongest demons, or that he was fighting with her new friends.
