Option #1: You can buy or make special furniture for your feline friend such as the posts shown above, or you could go a little extreme and make something like this. (Yes, I have a very spoiled cat!)

Option #2: You can trim your cats nails yourself. The first two pictures show how to hold your cat while trimming. Be careful not to cut where the claw turns pink. If you do, this will be extremely painful for your cat and may cause bleeding.

*Here are some tools you can use for trimming. A regular nail clipper will also do, provided that it is very sharp.

 

Option #3: You can use "SoftPaws". "SoftPaws" are vinyl nail caps that glue to your cat's claw. They are very effective and fairly inexpensive.

Option #4: Or, you can just let your feline shred your furniture!
