It is a little difficult to think of a topic for a composition, especially if you are preoccupied by some other things. Last night, when I was watching a DVD, I suddenly thought of a nice topic. I never thought that topic I’m looking for is right under my nose. And so I decided to talk about anime.

Ever since I was a little boy, I liked anime very much. So what is anime really? Actually, anime is difficult to describe in a very few words. But to put it simply, we may call anime as Japanese Animation. The word anime is a transliteration of the English word animation. Outside Japan, the term most popularly refers to the medium of animation originating in Japan, with distinctive character and background aesthetics that visually set it apart from other forms of animation like Walt Disney films and Warner Bros. short cartoons. Within Japan, the term anime is used to refer to all forms of animation from around the world. While some anime is entirely hand-drawn, computer assisted animation techniques are, in recent years, quite common. Storylines are typically fictional; examples of anime representing most major genres of fiction exist. Anime is broadcasted on television, distributed on media such as DVD and VCD, or included in computer and video games. Anime is often influenced by Japanese comics known as manga. Some anime storylines have been adapted into live action films and television series.

Anime soundtracks are big businesses in Japan, and are often times met with similar demand as chart topping pop albums. It is for this reason that anime music is often composed and performed by 'A-list' musicians, stars, and composers. Anime series with opening credits use the opening theme song as a quick introduction to the show. The most frequent use of music in Anime is background music or BGM. BGM is used to set the tone of a given scene, for example Neon Genesis Evangelion's "Decisive Battle" is played when the characters are making battle preparations and it features heavy drum beats and a militaristic style which highlights the tension of the scene and hints at the action to follow.

Truly, anime will surely make you enjoy the time it’s shares with you. Every scene will excite you, make you heart pop out of anger and even make you fall in love. Like me, I know a lot of you love anime too. We can hear a lot of people talking about it in streets, in trains, in ships, and even in planes. It also covers a lot of audiences from young to old, from mature to immature, from violent to romantic, and from idealistic to sensitive people. In short, many people love it. No wonder it has been very famous since it came off the television screens.
