Background Story

Before the great war started, planet Zi had many different countries. Countries on the westside believed in a government ruled by the population. Everyone is considered equal, and has the right to choose a government. Countries on the eastside believed in rule of the strongest. Only the most powerful inhabitants were qualified to rule, and make the decisions for the rest of the population. The population is more military oriented, as everybody has to serve in the army of at least a certain period, depending on status. Who serves well will recieve a house and land to live on and the possibility to raise further in status with the potential to recieve a place in the government.

As friction increased between the west and east side, countries on the both sides started to merge, and formed the Helic Republic on the west side, and the Zenebas Empire on the east side. Although this was done to become stronger and therefore strengthen security, this also lead to more distrust to the other side. Both sides encreased their defence forces, and as the time passed a war seemed to become unavoidable. In all this the Aeolean State decided to remain neutral. Aeoleon has only a small population of around 100,000, of which more then half live in the main city.

Then came the day that the war broke loose between the Helic Republic and the Zenebas Empire. Nobody exactly now what triggered it, but from day one have battles were fought between both sides. With the battles being fought so close to the borders of Aeoleon, the need for a guard was formed to make sure that fights would not cross borders. As Aeoleon has only a small population, it didn't have the resources to develope there own Zoids. So an agreement was formed with both the Helic Republic and the Zenebas Empire: Aeolean ground could be used as an escape for Zoids that were running out of fuel or were to damaged to reach home base. The Aeolean government would make sure that surviving pilots would be brought back to their own side, but the Zoids had to be left behind. As the pilots are a lot harder to replace than the Zoids because of the long training required, this was accepted by both the Republic and Empire.

The Zoids left behind were used to form the Aeolean Guard, with the task to protect the borders and to secure Zoids that needed an escape. These Zoid frames are repaired if necessary, and get any improvements where possible. The Aeolean government realises that the agreement is resting on unstable ground, but so far it seems to be working well and the Aeolean Guard is slowly taking shape.
