In this special section I dedicate it to my online Bird Friends Mariko and Hama-chan. They are from Japan. Hama-chan's story is sad. Mariko has a webpage dedicated to him. Hama-chan is a beautiful Macaw, who has spent 24 years in a small cage. He lives in Japan. In Japan animals have little rights. As long as they are being given Food and Water they are in a humane society. In Hama-chan's story he lives in a pet shop where everyone is scared of him. They are not used to seeing such a big bird and big birds are very rare in Japan. So when a person sees one they get scared. So alot of people are scared of poor Hama-chan. Mariko-san is the only friend he has. She visits him everyday, and makes sure he is being taken care of properly. She wishes she could buy him but the store owner refuses. I think Mariko-san is a very special person, to take the time out to share her heart with this bird that no one else would properly care if he existed or not. This is Mariko-san and Marine. Marine is a beautiful bird
and get's to go out with Mariko-san all the time.

Marine and Dolly, they are so lucky to have such a kind mom like

And this is, the famous Hama-chan. Mariko-san loves him with
all her heart, and it hurts her to see him locked in a small cage all the
time. Hurts me too.
This is the average size cage for Macaws. Sad isn't it.
But Hama-chan, looks forward for his visits from his best friend, Mariko-san.
